Post James Jarvis: The Poll
Last Friday Meltdown Comics hosted James Jarvis for a signing and illustration session. The event was awesome, in the way that only a JJ event can be - the guy has to rate as one of the nicest, and certainly most down to earth artists in the whole urban vinyl scene, plus he was one of the first people to ever have a toy put out - so the vibe is super relaxed and inclusive. Anyway, expect coverage from me on that one soon!

Anyways, I was talking to James about Skullbrain and how he should check it out, and he was saying that maybe the Jp toy fans don't dig his stuff (he'd probably been on the receiving end of a Hikaru : "Your toys suck" exclamation) - well, I was telling him there was plenty of love for JJ and his creations here - so here's your chance to prove me right (or wrong, but I hope not) by partaking of the above poll. The poll is designed for those who are familiar with James' output - if you've no idea, check 'em out, then come back and let us know what you think.

Thanks.

I hear you. I am not into the new bigger size pieces, just no room left. But the In-Crowd series, exemplified by the Zombies and King Ken, plus the original ones like Martin, Lars, Bearded Prophet and Tattoo me Keith are where its at for me.

I really like his work. I didn't at first, but caved in and picked up the Old Guard In-Crowd. After that I really got into his style. I still don't have any World of Pain stuff, but do have nearly all the In-Crowd and Vortigern pieces. I'm liking the Vortigern stuff. Seems many are a little iffy on this line, but I like. Maybe it's because WofP was before my collecting time? Dunno.

Love his work though.

I like the brown king ken; and the old guard set. The rest, I can take it or leave it cuz it seems so much the same.

I said "brown" but I meant "orange" unflocked.

I dig his stuff, and the opening was a lot of fun. Bonus points for Jarvis digging Slayer (pic taken from one of the sketches in the show). :D

I started my collection with a Tattoo Me Keith and it was all over from there. The thing I like about the James Jarvis figures (especially the in-crowd) is that they look great all together. The only pieces I still need are the two martins, 3 of the Nokia figures, and a leon (hint, hint). I can see where some may think they look to similar to each other, but to me that's the beauty of it. Plus, no one else I know of has made a likeness of Kerry King AND Lemmy Kilmister.

If that's "lame," I would like to see a collection that could walk.

I love Jarvis' stuff,I just dont own any.Im in the same boat ,I collect so much stuff,I dont have the funds rightnow.I really dig his work though, so simple, yet very expressive.I love the Leon figure and wish I was better friends w/ Muton so I could have scored it and made it my first Jarvis figure.
One day when I have some extra dough, Im going to buy a bunch of his older figs and have a massive collection..one day....

Grey, Orange, White and Pink are unflocked.
Brown and Black are flocked.
I prefer unflocked personally

Jarvis is quite dope. Love his stuff. I don't think anyone would knock him here but would be sort of given respect for his established art. Does he share the love of kaiju?

I am not a fan but I am not sure why. At first blush the King Kens should appeal to me but I have never pulled the trigger. I think these toys look too much like stuff I actually played with as a kid. Maybe they are too familiar.
