Official Skullbrain Pug Thread

Sun Feb 17, 2008 4:07 pm

I constantly find it amazing how many of us here seem to have pugs - so I thought an offical Skullbrain Pug Thread would be fun. A lot of you already have pics here and there it shouldn't be too hard to get this off teh ground. Please - post away!!!

Skruffy and Milhouse:
Here are a couple of my guys to start us off - Skruffy (the little black guy) and Milhouse. Skruffy and Milhouse are two brothers (I am told from the same litter) who are going on 6 years old, and came from teh LA Pug Rescue (LAPR.org), and apparently originally came from South Central LA. Both of them had been neglected and had demodectic mange when I got 'em - hence Skruffy's name, as he was basically bald up to his waist - but after a couple more bouts of that, they got better and grew up to be the pugs you see here today.

I still love Charles: lick lick.

I also still have a piece of art for Carl. I bought it on a bridge in Kyoto. The artist is a big fan of pugs.

Hey, Skruffy and Milhouse are reading this and feeling neglected.

But shit, Rerun and Memphis are extremely cute. I've never seen a Brindle pug before Rerun.

I never saw my guys as pups, but those Memphis pics make me wish I had.

Memphis is blushing while reading this.
It was great getting Memphis while she was a pup, you can watch them grow before your eyes. Memphis thinks Rerun is one sexy Pug!

This thread fills me with Joy, all pugs are cute!

Hey Skruffy and Milhouse(and you to Carl)...I am sorry for my remarks. I think all yous are cute and lovable.

On a serious note,I heard that allot of pugs get sick pretty easily and thus don't live to be that old. Is this true? Something about not having the strongest immune system. If it is true that sucks :(

pugs have a lot of heath issues, everything from beathing problems to leg problems, ours is 4 if I remember right and has already had over 4k worth of problems, our last one was pretty healthy till he got older and then it all fell apart but he made it to about 11

OK, Khanate wins te adorable pug in black and white award! OK, so how old, name , details, brand of hoodie?

Richard, your questions about pug health. One of my guys cost me a lot too - but mainly cos it happened July 4, and I went to an EXPENSIVE emergency clinic - the one incident cost me 4k - but what are gong to do?

But in general they have been (fingers crossed) pretty hardy little guys. The pug rescue has lots of pugs who make it past 11 or 12 years. And I've heard of plenty getting to 15, which in dog terms is pretty old. My guys are "tall" pugs, and I was told by the vet that teh problems happen more with pugs who are bred to be as tiny as possible. The squashed in faces certainly cause some breathing problems (plus they are likely to drown in pools), a sad fact of the way they have been bred to look cute. If u check out old paintings from Victrian times, pugs were way taller and had a less flat face. I met a pug nearly as tall as a boxer dog. Apparently he was descended from an old skool pug line.

If u wanna get one, got to the pug rescue in Pasadena, and help a homeless pug - they seem to know about any big issues as teh pugs are older. Mine were both a year old when I got them from there.

almost 3 years, named "Kosta" after a crazy bulgarian friend. not sure about the hoodie brand but there is a camo skull and crossbones stitched to it!

oh, and he's definitely got a licking problem.
