If the real Zollmen would just stand up that would be provide a happy ending to this whole release day thread. Maybe KR is really Zollmen, screwing around with our Kaiju world. . .

Bueller!

That will teach you never to take a day away from the computer keyboard again! Isn't this like, what, your first?

i've heard rumors that the person behind Zollman does not think much of new Japanese vinyl, collects Jumbos and hangs out in the vintage section.

that is all I know. don't pm me.

Post Re: What ever happened to release days?
I just spent a bit writing up a post, after arriving at this thread very late, then realized Glenn posted most of what I felt (and in a much better way than I had attempted).

I just don't like the ugly crap that this type of thing brings out. I like the Maza, but don't own one and won't until I can get it for retail...and one I actually want. If they dropped one with a run of 100 tomorrow for free, but it was a color I hated...then the people out there who I know have overpaid/overtraded for the others can buy the whole run.

There's people who currently own doubles, maybe triples, of the Mother(s) some have been salivating over. I think this thread became really important as a warning to those who're still tempted to trade a beloved toy or part with much hard earned money. I hope for the unravelling soon but would like to see Zollmen continue producing great toys. I think the good will created by upping the runs would far outweigh the negative feeling the current situation has created...imo anyway.

see what trouble you created Joe? I knew the nice guy act was BS.

Yeah, those were fun days. When was that, mid to late 2006, early 2007, or so?

Shit, I think I started lining up in front of S7 Sept or Aug of '05. I definetly remember it being about 5 or 6 people on Saturdays. Also, this was at their old location next door to where they are at now.

Only reason I haven't been out as much is due to extreme caution relevant to the economy. It's painful because when I *do* make it to S7, there's all this amazing stuff and the staff is always eager to talk about the latest happenings. Just an embarrassing situation that I'm sure is temporary.

Otherwise there's really nothing to stop the locals from having a Saturday morning "let's do S7" thing whether or not there's some exciting release. We'd still get the social aspect and you never know what you're going to find at the store unless you're there at least once a week. I can't do this immediately but will make a suggestion in a few weeks. Maybe someone can bring non-weird cupcakes or bagels.

For me the best Saturday morning release memory is probably the day the RxH x Super7 "Fungus Chaos" was released. We were all in awe. It was like church or something, except more fun. I think only about six or seven people showed up (I remember Shibby, Kirkland, and Harmon were there) and everyone who wanted a fungus got one. I mean, you know, the Chaos.

I remember the pure jealousy of living on the east coast and wanting to be there so bad for release days.
I also remember sweating(literally) over calling up and hoping I could score the S7 orange damn.

My memorable release day was May , 2008---when I had to scramble with fellow Brainers for "hidden rxh treasures" under the t-shirts, above the toyshelves, and almost everywhere around the store.

I think I hunted down either the mini Jyarinco MH or the mini gold chaos, which wasn't really that bad.

Meeting some of the locals were a blast!
