Is S7 still running point on the ReAction series or has funko taken over? Will there pre order opportunities like there were with Alien with S7 exclusive figures?

unfortunately it looks like they are for real. Funko seems to have gone a little overboard on the ReAction figures

I wish.... a few legit sites have them up for pre-order... it's sad I was looking forward to some of these.

Ummm....yeah.

These have all the stylings of the poor toylines released in the 70s/80s, rather than the best ones. Any nostalgia value is destroyed by improper execution. Seems like they are trying to cash in though, and I am sure people will buy 'em. Reminds me of the late waves of toylines that would come out when the interest had already waned. Oh, those were some doozies.

I posit that no toys of the seventies looked as bad as these. I was thinking that they had the stink of the nineties, actually. Burn 'em all!

I'd be more disappointed if I'd had any plans to collect these lines, but I was still very much looking forward to watching how this great idea developed. Oh well, more time for Japan.

I find this comical! He looks like he's in a futuristic retelling of The Count of Monte Cristo or something.

The sad bit is that he would look much more recognizably like Snake if they had stippled his stubble instead of filling it in to give him a full beard.

This is how Kenner handled stubble:

http://www.cooltoyreview.com/Kenner_IJ_IndyGerman.asp

That mockup graphic of the Predator on the card does not do it any favors. It shows how huge the head is and how the whole body follows an inverted triangle shape. It looks like a bobblehead.

Maybe we need to say some positive things. Nice range of licenses and characters, right?

I do like the Terminator figures. Im hoping the paint has a slight gloss instead of the flat paint in the protos.

Those are garish, what happened? It seems the charm of the alien wave is lost completely. I was looking forward to some of these, but now I dont know if I really want to preorder.

Does anyone know if these might be 'not final' paints? sometimes that's all you need to help out a poor sculpt. :/

I just figured out what it is that is getting me about these figures. They all look like they are based off of animated versions of the movies. Really, I could totally see that predator, Snake, or S.C. being right out of an 80s cartoon. It would explain the lack of detail and the 'softened' aspect of them. It is like the person who made these had never seen the films, and was going off concept sketches rather than movie shots.

Post Re: SUPER7's ALIEN ReAction Figures!
the whole thing that ruins it for me is plain and simple:

the alien line was never produced, but they were found and put into production. they have a cool history, they have the automatic charm of being made back then, and the fantasy and "lost toy" aspect came to fruition. they were meant for this line, and work extremely well.

nightmare before christmas? no way- who cares if there are 3 3/4 scale toys for that movie.

i am indeed excited to see the modern horror line unfold, but after seeing these other prototypes, i wont hold my breath.

Overkill SUCKS for sure on something like this, but on the bright side I'll be adding a Vincent Vega figure to my collection :!:

It might be wishful thinking, but at least this line might take focus away from Pop Vinyls! It's the lesser of two evils I guess haha

I think because as you may notice, most of these are colored up off of unpainted protos, test shots and early sculpts, that the color and details don't look like real toys. Some are definitely works in progress. I think by the time they land you will be more than pleasantly surprised. We have your back.

I hope so.. The Goonies and BTTF sound cool, but only if they are taken from protos from back in the 80s. These new figures give me the same feeling that I got when I saw Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull and compared it to the original Indy trilogy. They are lacking the charm that the originals had, something doesn't feel right.

All I want are The Last Starfighter figures, taken from the original sculpts/molds over anything offered in this new batch of 60+ toys

As much as those The Last Starfighter figures are legend, I don't think you can expect to see them anytime soon. It's a fondly remembered film if you're old enough, unfortunately it's also clogging up the $7 Blue Ray bin at Walmart. That said, I'll put in for some Krull and Excalibur figs without much hope.

The initial alien set was so well sculpted that seeing some of these preview sculpts it feels like something was lost in transition. Having said that I do hope they do these figures justice not just sculpt-wise but also paint-wise. Definitely interested to see how the final figures for Predator and Pulp fiction are going to look.

I really hope that you are right, because there is a MASSIVE difference between what is being shown now, and the excellent Alien figures you have brought us.

I agree with the previous assertion that the Terminator, Predator and Escape from New York figures have a 90s animated style vibe to them. Which is all very well, but it isn't what was promised.

Compare the unpainted figures in brobles' post to these proposed new figures: there's a wealth of detail in the Alien figures that is missing in the proposed figures.

Having Goonies figures, along with Terminator, Predator, Firefly and Rocketeer (Hell, I'd even go for the Buffy ones!) in a retro-Kenner style was intriguing. I was all for it.

Animated style figures? Not for me.

A big YES to Krull and Excalibur figures!

I'd love V figures (original series) in a retro style.

To clarify, are you saying that these are like Photoshop jobs? They took the prototype and then just colored in the digital image?

Do you have any unaltered photos of the prototypes or test shots to show?

Yup - when I saw that Predator, the first thing that popped into my head was Kif from Futurama, dressed up for halloween. And Snake looks like he belongs in the Clerks cartoon.

They look more like knock off Kenner figures. The likeness is so far off and they just look really poor in comparison to those other figures from 70's and 80's they are trying to match. I don't think many people will buy them, i wouldn't even want to pay $4 for that crap.
