Re: "Imagery of Japanese Toys" Show at S7 - CLOSED!!!
Can you encroach on yourself?
I mean I doubt dudes in Japan would sue but it just sounds like something that might upset some of the very guys you are fans of. Just saying. OK, parade raining over.

Re: "Imagery of Japanese Toys" Show at S7 - CLOSED!!!
Having a show of the talented photographers here on the board is the point of the show. If the photographer in question wants to make a product of some sort (as a deck of cards for example), that photographer would have to clear those rights before we sell it. Otherwise, we are only showing off the photos. Anything beyond that is to the discretion of the photographers, and they need to make sure that they are not crossing any lines. If we think any lines have been crossed, we will ask and look into it before we sell it. Let's not make a situation out of something that has not happened, or lead anyone to believe that is the intention..

Re: "Imagery of Japanese Toys" Show at S7 - CLOSED!!!
Brian and Luke have very valid points. After further consideration, we have decided not to produce the book or deck of cards. Knowing that it would be difficult if not impossible to get permission from each toy designer / manufacturer, it's probably better that we pull the plug on both.
If you have any questions, feel free to pm me.
thank you
Kirkland

yes, I am trying to avoid upsetting the very same toy designers and manufacturers we covet.

Re: "Imagery of Japanese Toys" Show at S7 - CLOSED!!!
George, if you want to pm or call me about this, i'm happy to discuss.
The issue on the deck of cards was brought specifically to our attention. No mention was made about the show itself.

Re: "Imagery of Japanese Toys" Show at S7 - CLOSED!!!
Not sure I see a difference in selling a piece of art with a companys prouduct as the subject vs selling a pack of cards with with a piece of art on them containing a company's product as the subject
i thought the cards / book would have been a great idea.
do books like so cool japanese toys etc... have to get rights from the manufactor to display the toys? i know the copyrights are given to the respective manufacturers.

Re: "Imagery of Japanese Toys" Show at S7 - CLOSED!!!
I don't think it would be illegal but it might cause Super7 problems with our vendors a lot like RxH customs have in the past. People like to stir up shit and in this case it is not worth it for us to weather the storm.

With the killing of the cards and photo book ideas, it would be nice for someone to maybe host digital versions or decent pics of the non digital ones on a flickr site just for the show or a blog...

Re: "Imagery of Japanese Toys" Show at S7 - CLOSED!!!
Ok, good. Super7 makes some very nice toys, but the show will be more interesting if open to all kaiju. Anybody remember the names of the "super 7" that Super7 was named after? I think that they were Godzilla, Ultraman, Gamera, Kamen Rider, Kikaida, Great Mazinga and T-28.

Re: "Imagery of Japanese Toys" Show at S7 - CLOSED!!!
Updated FAQ.
Asking Glenn if the photos will go on sale online.
If your photos don't sell, they will be sent back to you at your expense.

Re: "Imagery of Japanese Toys" Show at S7 - CLOSED!!!
I figure the show itself is the cool part. Book/card idea is like icing; if you have to have 3 lawyers and an accounting firm to frost the cake, just eat the cake and be happy. Let the lawyers have their own show.

Re: "Imagery of Japanese Toys" Show at S7 - CLOSED!!!
I think it would totally rad if S7 used these images as some kind of desktop or wallpaper for all of us loyal skullbrainers to throw on our computers... I see a lot of web shops and artist's that have generic freebie wallpapers that you can download so why not utilize everybodys hard work in way that we can all admire as a community if copyright issues have eliminated the deck of cards book and calendar type idea's...
