Yeah, the Alien had four fingers and two thumbs.

I'm guessing the angle of the shot obscures the other thumbs? But the number and possition of alien fingers has varied throughout the films (although these should be only based on the original film.)

The BIG CHAP has two thumbs on each hand. Accurate to the film, and more importantly, accurate to the original Kenner prototype.

In 1979, prototypes for 3 ¾” action figures for the ALIEN film were developed but never manufactured. Through our network of industry and collector contacts, Super7 has unearthed reference material and original 34-year-old prototypes and will now make these “lost toys” a reality.

Under authorization from 20th Century Fox, Super7 will produce the full series of ALIEN toys as part of our ReAction Figure Series (Retro-Action). I have a question, and if it's been asked already I apologize..

Will these be a limited release? I ask because A. I won't be at SDCC to preorder it (I hope there could be like a Skullbrain preorder or something?) and I'd love to get a set of these. And B. These things are going to have lots of crossover appeal. I know I want a set and I guess so will every other ALIEN fanatic, and about a 10 times as many of those people are going want just the Alien (the fairweather alien fans?), then the oldschool toy collectors, the oldschool Star Wars toys fans, sci-fi fans, HR Giger fans, etc... I just hope there will be enough to go around. That's all. I'd love to get a set, and maybe a second Alien to completely wear out as I carry it with me everywhere I go.

I obviously don't want or need to know exact numbers, but just knowing if they're limited or not would help.

Very valid point, which was kind of discussed but never really cleared up. The cross appeal market will be huge for these. My hope is that since these are not like a usual sofubi toy run, and are made to order in China, I've really got my fingers crossed that Super7 ordered a massive, huge, giant quantity of them. I could give a blade of grass for 'rarity' or 'exclusivity' - I say give 'em to everyone and let us all rejoice in their awesome glory.

The hard part is the price point makes me think that this might not be the case.

The golden rule for this project is WWKD -- What Would Kenner Do? If the plug had not been pulled on the line, these toys would have been widely available and we intend to follow that model.

We aren't Hasbro or Mattel, so we aren't exactly producing a "massive" quantity, but these are not limited editions, nor will they be promoted as such. We will do everything possible to make sure these land on your shelves - we do not want these to be hard to get.

We still have more surprises up our sleeves for the ALIEN line between now and SDCC when the preorders begin. Just because we don't want these to be hard to get doesn't mean we aren't going to have fun along the way!

It may not be my place to say this, but $19.99 is a steal for these figs! After showing prototypes literally across the country, the price point received compliments from everyone - most were pleasantly surprised they were that inexpensive! New STAR WARS toys (surely produced in much greater quantities) retail for $12 at places like Target these days, and new ALIEN/PROMETHEUS figures from NECA frequently retail for $25+.

I'm really excited that these are coming out this year. I know patience is virtue but I anticipated a '14 release date so to find out that these are arriving in 4-5 months is fantastic news.

Soooooo..... with SDCC approaching, can we expect to learn if the rest of us will be left hanging with these guys? Forgive the prodding, I am just so excited for a set of Alien figures.
