 Cosmo Liquid show
Went to the Cosmo Liquid show opening tonight. It was small and cozy and packed to the rafters with those unsung heroes of the vinyl world - the sculptors. Often contractually obligated not to toot their own horns and oftimes working away as wage slaves in some sculpt factory - I hope the Cosmo show will mark the beginning of more recognition of these fellows who have done as much as anyone to conribute to the joy we find in collecting vinyl.
How many of you even heard of this Cosmo guy? and even those who have may be surprised to see the original molds of cherished possessions displayed at the exhibition by this talented sculptor. In the small space were the orignal molds of several secret base figures, Balzac figures, Crocoroc and what I think was Cosmo's breakthrough piece that helped traise his name out of the shadows - the Pushead x KAWS collabo companion. There was some reallly nice stuff there showing cosmo's great skill and range.
I took a few pics of the party but Cosmo asked if I refrain from posting any close-ups of any of the original sculpts themselves. THe show runs for 2 and 1/2 weeks in a gallery in Roppongi. If you are in the neighbor hood - highly reccomended.
few pics here

Wow,
I might actually be there to make this!
I agree, the sculptors deserve way more recognition.
Sounds like a hell-a-cool exhibit.

Cosmo rules. We should try to put a list of his toys together:
1. Fink Shit (I think)
2. Skull Bee
3. Kaws vs Pus
4. MAntra
5. I think at lease on of the new S7 toys is buy him
Cosmo is too shy, I want to see detailed pictures of the show. I think his work is important and should be well documented.

The blobby ROCK guy from 360 toy group SB Mantis Kaibutsu-kun

Like I mentioned not only is he shy but he was worried about contractual issues/future work prospects if I put up detailed pics of the show. I promised him I wouldn't - shame really

That's a hella impressive list already. Mantra is one of my all-time faves, one of the very first pieces I ever bought - so Cosmo bears the blame/gets the credit for sending me down this crazy road.
