Post New to Vinyls *little help*
i just started in on these within this year, so im way behind the curve. but im trying to catch up. seems like the more figs I see, the more i want, and theres new ones popping up everyday. does anybody know if there is a Secret Base or Gargamel price guide or checklist somewhere with pics of all the figures theyve released? i need to have a place to start and that would help out. thanx yo

no price guide.
checklists are outdated but just pick up all the back issues of super 7 that you can get.

You've been to Thrashout and Secret Base shop and need a place to START?

This is the place, I don't think there's any 1 source, but comb through the threads here. It's tedious, but worth it. Also some Japanese online stores (mandrake, kaiju-taro) have (sold out) stock you can get some pic references from.

Oh................and of course buy a bunch of Super 7 back issues from Super 7  Welcome, have fun and learn control early

Boy are you at the right place at the right time... :D

There's a magazine/book (Mook) coming out soon, published by Super7, that will have a list of many releases by company. I forget what the exact content of volume 1 will be, but I know it will have Secret Base and RealxHead in it... there's more, but I forget exactly what else is going to be in it.

You can also get back issues of Super7 magazine... gives great background information about a lot of the toy manufacturers, and has a lot of pictures of stuff.

As for price guides... things can change pretty quickly. Stuff that sits around in stores for months can suddenly become HOT, and you'll often hear people say "I can't believe I didn't pick that up when it came out." It would be relatively pointless to try and appraise figures since values go up and down in a pretty volatile manner.

It seems like you've visited the home bases of two of the most prolific and popular toy makers... you would do yourself a great service by starting with a VERY narrow focus of what you'd like to collect, and maybe expand it a bit later as you become more familiar with who makes what... your wallet and significant other will thank you later. :D

Welcome aboard.

good advice. Ive collected other stuff over the years. nothing that competes with vinyl tho, especially in price. im not a completist. i think i know what im looking for. unfortunately, in most respects, its the harder-to-find pieces that pique my interest. great site tho. i did KR for a while, but this place far surpasses nething ive seen there.

well, you never know when a harder to find piece will turn up. Right now its a great time to start collecting SB. Some of the prices on hard to find pieces are lower now that they were when many of us started collecting this stuff.
