The box art is a tribute to the vintage Popy Combattler V combine in box version. This turned out nice. Hopefully the price will come down to make it more within my budget.

I don't see how that would happen- maybe if it were a blank run or something but if this is how it's priced out the gate...

I like the concept and packaging, but the actual toy looks kind of goofy. At that point, I wish they would have gone all the way and given it 'normal' super robot proportions. It has too much of the Zollmen big-head look for me... brings to mind Mad Baron, Space Guy, etc.

(Not that it matters, since I'm not their target audience...)

I think the proportions are fine given the medium. Both vintage and contemporary sofubi super robots are often caricatures of the machines they represent. That being said, it would be pretty cool to see Rikidizer 3 rendered with "normal" proportions in future box/header or promotional art.

I agree with Andy, no need to use the "G" word for a toy that's just seen its first release. People spend years, sometimes decades looking for elusive gems. Let's not crap on the efforts of such collectors with premature desires to acquire fresh vinyl. :P

Not until there's a mawanka crossover and/or its owner decrees it Art. Until then it's just a toy worth a few Jordans.

I guess anything that is destined to be unattainable becomes a "grail"
Whether the toy is cool or NOT

Post Re: Rikidizer3 Database
There are a lot of various robot influences that I would guess are lost on most non-robot collectors. For those interested, aside from the similarities to Combattler V (the box design; the separating into vehicles (although this was common among many robots, and Combattler separated into 5); the design of the head vehicle; the legs/feet design, etc.), the most obvious other influence is Daimos. The paint scheme is clearly a Daimos homage, as are other components. In addition, it could be argued that the fists/forearms are reminiscent of Jeeg. The green chest part might be from King Joe. One of the other separated vehicle modes is similar in posture (the one with the arms) to many Takatoku animal-based toys. I'm sure there are others if you took the time to really study all design elements, but these are some of the most obvious ones I saw from a quick glance.

From comparison to some of the vintage diecast robot toys behind this item's box, the box is quite sizable.
