Post got my first secret base figure
and i'm still not feeling the line really.

the figure is the Artoyz Obake. I like the colors... I like the see-thru ghost sheet... I guess it's just that it doesnt really fit with anything else I have

Not sure about the material of the figure underneath... it seems like compressed foam or something. are all the figures like that?

Are the Obakes considered fight figures?

I have a couple Gargamel fight figures (gargamess and bullmask - i dig the wrestling themes) that I like a lot... so if i buy anymore secret base stuff, it will be the grappler looking sculpts.

no real motive with this post other than a mini personal review, so flame on i guess

you shoulda went with a skullbee for your first SB piece. That obake is
the worst version EVER! The body under the sheet is the exact same figure
as the skullbrain minus the brain. Yup.

Whos horns kinda 'poke into' the sheet a little oddly!

I kinda agree about the Obakes . . . I'm sure I'll start at some point but it's the only sculpt currently not representing in my cabinet . . . dunno why, just never really had the same appeal as all the others!

The new Cola Skullbrain mighta been a better place to kick-off your Base collection.

They all differ in Color, but like Chris said they are all the Brain figure minus the Brain and add a sheet.
Oh and he is not the worst Obake out there.

Half non-GID/orange horizontal split wasn't the greatest . . . just remembered I do own this and the '06 Halloween Obake. Possibly why I have a tainted view! :D

I recommend if you like the SB theme/line get a Skull Bee or a Barbarian. I like these sculpts but their colorway is questionable to me... and I am not really big on SB

i havent really been into the SB line which is why i don't own anymore, but like bwana's hedoran's that i didn't really feel at first, after i owned one and had it in my hands i appreciated it

i don't really care for any insect-themed toys, but skulls and ghosts i can do

i'll have to research more and find some cool skulls or ghosts that have open hands instead of boxing gloves

From photos I liked the Obake the best. It was the first SB figure I picked up, and once I got it I too was a bit disappointed. But eventually I found the SB sculpt for me - the Skullbrain! Now it's the only SB I'll buy.
I dunno what it is about the Obake - it's quite photogenic, but in hand it's missing something.

The Obake has grown on me, but I don't really like colours they seem to pick.

I think that the mummys rock!
And I have a feeling that much to my bank account's dismay, the Skullwings are growing on me as well.

I concur! Although as much as I love the Pirate I have real difficulty classing (or even displaying) it with all the other SB scupts . . . . it's just too 'unsymetric' and fugly . . . in fact, it's in it's own league of fugly! :D

Great topic. I only have a handfull myself but I like

#1 Skullbrain
#2 Damaged Brain (Mummy)
#3 Skullwing
#4 Skullpirate
#5 Ghost fighter
#6 Frankenghost

In that order. The rest I'm not feelin but then again that might change if I get the right colorway right in my hands.
