Post SxBx Production Runs... anyone know?
I'm sure this is listed somewhere on this board and I'll catch crap for asking, but... does anyone know what kind of overall production runs SB does on its various figures? I mean, are there usually a few hundred, thousand, somewhere in between?

Also, has anyone bothered to try and keep a price list average on this figures?

Generally there's anywhere between 1500 and 4000 of each colorway produced. Some of the shop exclusives are as low as 350.

SB like to to keep run numbers a mystery as they prefer to let the product speak for itself, rather than the fact it is more limited than another release drive sales.

IMO this is a pure hype free approach. It seems to have worked well in the past where releases that were less aesthetically pleasing than others, though apparently more limted than some other release, remained easier to get. The fact they were more limited was of course only made apparent way after teh fact.

The other thing is, around here its not cool to ask that question. Despite the fact that plenty of people probably wonder the same thing.

Production numbers are almost never given, and we support this 100%. Why? It allows you to look at a toy and buy because you like it, or reject it because you don't like it. There is no buying of toys just because it is a limited run, or feeling over-underwhelmed by a run. How many are made should not affect your appreciation of a toy. After a while, you will get to know certain ebbs and flows of manufacturers, and therefore a better sense of what may or may not be more difficult to find. I hope that helps.

Also, in a funny way, it lets the better toys rise to the top. There may be more made of a certain color of figure, but because demeand is made on the strength of the toy instead of it's production number, higher production toys can carry a bigger premium, where stinkier toys can drop, there is no "artificial demand" of "rarity" for a toy no one wants. Plus you don't feel compelled to keep something you don't like just because you got something "rare". A 1 of 10 edition of a piece of poop is still a piece of poop, but 1 of 200 of gold is still gold. Does this make any sense?

Yeah, production numbers should matter if you really love toys.

Do you see how well I know most of you bastards in such a short time.

I'm not interested in the production runs for any other reason except personal curiosity. I can assure you it is not going to change my mind on which figures I like or don't like, or wether I value any of them less than another. That goes the same for price or value. Just my curiosity.

I only want to know more about the company (SB) and the pieces it releases. It was an honest question that I am willing to wager a lot of other collectors, members and even employees are curious about. So, I'm willing to take one for the team. Go ahead people of multiple thousand posts, unload your turd here. Yeah, yeah, my stupid question, blah, blah, blah... and all that.

I love you all

Why not?

I see that run totals are given for others figures, KAWS for example.

Just curious on why this is such a sensitive subject?
