Red vs. Green? Blood vs. Boogers? Hard call, I like the red one more though. It's more "metal" without a doubt. But that green one is so crusty. When I say "like more" it's BARELY.

God damnit. I give up. I think that the blue is the least strong of the three, but that's not saying much since it's one of the most incredible sculpts out there. The red eyes and silver details do look very nice though.

On a sidenote, it'd be neat to see a tribute version to Two-Bad:


Though I can imagine that will never, ever happen (whether it's the Bemon guy making one or someone actually customizing their own), I can dream a little.

A purple and blue would look incredibly lame. I think on a madball mantis it would be great and compliment the sculpt but for this guy...nah.

IMHO US homages don't work so well in Japanese figures, a little "me too" for my taste. I think on figures created by western artists is totally fine. The Hulk Mantis being an exception to the rule off the top of my head.

I think they CAN work, it just depends. Vader Anraku for instance, or the Skulletor Brain. They both work on the sculpts they're on (Dako best for the Vader seeing parts resemble parts of Vaders armor.) I also think the TMNT RxH's fit, they're kinda based on them anyway, and there being 4 and 4.

It's when it's forced that I don't like it, this would be a "forced" tribute I feel. Yeah, both have 2 heads, but it's still not feeling right.

For me, I didn't grow up with Inazuman or a bootleg Hedoran or other typical Japanese based tributes. I'm not going to lie and act like I was all hardcore as a kid, I just wasn't exposed to a lot of this stuff as a kid, it was by choice as a teenager that I was. But I was exposed to Star Wars and MATU and TMNT and Marvel and DC comics, so things like that resonate with me when I see them on a Japanese figure. Also the contrasting cultures, 70's, 80's and early 90's American cartoons seem to fit well on a lot of Japanese figures like the Madballs and Killer Tomatoes etc. I guess they don't feel "me too" to me or forced, mostly, because it's the Japanese creator who uses it as a tribute (Mori's choice to do TMNT, Anraku's choice to do Vader) and they feel more natural.

Anyway, blah blah blah, I agree that tribute would NOT work on this sculpt though I enjoy a lot of American tributes in Japanese toys. I feel Japanese tributes on American/Western toys are much more "me too" and forced. Kinda like "We'll get those 'Kaiju' kids to buy this crap if we make it Ultraman colored!"

I agree with you folks on the 'tributes' debate. Although, for us suckers in the US, we have a better chance at finding a Two-Bad than Two Headed Bemon!

maybe that was a sample/test shot,,with more blue (really noticeable on the chest & face)...i like the darker version better

I know it's nuts but I'm starting to think that this figure may be worth the $500 they tend to go for...I just don't have that kind of dough for one toy.

I think that a clear/transparent with paint on it, or a GID with a rub-job would kill. I do dig the sculpt though, but am not in the market to buy one myself - but either of those colorways would make it a lot harder to resist trying to add it to my wants list.
