Re: Grody Shogun - New Stuff
I know that the ending prices for those Grodys were ridiculous, but what I hate even more is that "thebatmancollector" always seems to find the new hot thing to flip. It's not just any "new hot thing," they're things that a lot of us on this forum collect.
He probably started out selling batman stuff. Then when that wasn't turning much of a profit, he looked for a small niche collector market, and found us.

Re: Grody Shogun - New Stuff
I think Luke will flood the market with these guys, and soon everyone will have too many to even want to buy them. It's like every s7 monster family release they sell out then you can't even give them away on the sale thread. It's like any other toy if everyone had one they wouldn't sell for as much. Sadly these first releases were such small runs people will freak out to have them.

Re: Grody Shogun - New Stuff
I really only thought the gool wouldve went to like $60, glad I admitted defeat early on that. I did just get beat for an unpainted greenhell RV on the bay just two days earlier though. I quit at $75 and it ended at fucking $270!! after all this time still...

I don't know where to post this, but I think it falls mostly on the grody side. I don't know what to make of this. Insane. Will be at nycc next week.

He actually did a few random weird mashups yesterday and was posting them on Twitter. Even painted at least one of them:

The Ollie torso one looks like someone is trying too hard to make something that should not be made...

Re: Grody Shogun - New Stuff
What bums me out is all the chances I've had to buy low and sell big, and I never take them... I'm not even a huge fan of Grody Shogun, and I still wouldn't do that to the fans that buy these... It's so disrespectful to the artists to put their toys on e-bay, unless your doing a BIN and asking what you paid for it. People keep treating these toys like their an investment, and not something to have fun with. It bums me out, and I think it takes the right kind of arrogance, to make more off a toy than the original maker. The whole point of GS was to make cheap vinyl toys that everyone could afford, and have fun with, and for that I have a lot of respect for Luke (even if I'm not head over heals for his monsters.). That said I haven't gotten one of these in hand yet so I'm can't say I'm not missing out on something.

Those mash ups are funny. Don't think I'd buy them if that was even possible, but fun to see.

I don't care for any of those mash-ups. Not a big fan of mash-ups to begin with but that's me. The only ones I like is looking at the Friday Mash-up thread.

As far as wanting to own one of these mashies I agree with the group-think. but I have to say the Kara arms as devil horns trick is pretty awesome. Russblue11 wrote: The Ollie torso one looks like someone is trying too hard to make something that should not be made... I dunno... Nagasaki... Fukushima.... Chernobyl..... Thalidomide.... the Love Canal.... Dr. Moreau... this guy:

Re: Grody Shogun - New Stuff
I love mash ups, but specifically toys that are released over and over, with subtle differences... For instance Hujili's Ghost, with a Polution monsters body... Or Hollis/Le Turd Body used to make the Mummy Turd... I like the Blobpus head on the Ollie body as well. These are, well just a little to "Slapstick" for me...

Re: Grody Shogun - New Stuff
FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINALLY got my box from PR. Oy! Toys are fine though, glad to be building a little army. Honestly I'm just trying to get 1 version of each head 1 per release. I'd like to get all the variant bodies and arms mixed in too. After that, I dunno, gotta be careful.
