Hirota came across a bag of chains that his late father had purchased in the 60's or 70's and he chose to honor him by using them on this new figure. He could have used a modern chain but decided to go deep with it.
For me, knowing that Hirota sculpted these figures himself, pulled the vinyl himself, painted them himself, bagged them himself....and then used a chain with sentimental value in it makes the MG2 all the more extraordinary.
