Neither for, nor against the missile clips. However, rocket punch is almost mandatory now that Lucas has signed off on it!
I view this more as a Machinder than a Stormtrooper - so the "departures" from what a Stormtrooper is don't bother me. I'm my eyes, they're creating a Machinder in the image of a Stormtrooper, rather than a Stormtrooper in the style of a Machinder. So any and all JM "gimmicks" are welcome! :D

No missile clips. They would look silly on the StormTrooper.

Will the missiles be the classic Popy red and white colored ones?

But a stormtrooper on rollerskates is totally cool!

logang1, I'd love to see the red missile bodies cast in black...but with the same white vanes. Same shape, though. So...an Imperial take on the classic Popy JM missile! Pogue, can you tell us anything about the missiles?

Oh, and thanks so much for all the info you've given us so far! March can't come soon!

WILL IT HAVE A PAULDRON?

(I love the fact that Star Wars fans have the word "pauldron" in their vocabularies thanks to Stormtoopers.)

one rocket punch fist, the other fist will hold the gun. No missile firing gun if we make a rocket punch, other wise this will be an eight million dollar jumbo. As far as pauldron's and vader's - we have plans, but we have to make the first one first.

Brian,

Do you guys have a ballpark figure for the cost on these? I don't want to have some serious sticker shock when
March rolls around.

I have to say I also find the missile clips to be very iconic on a Jumbo. Saying that they wouldn't look right on a stormtrooper is anyone's own valid opinion, but to me (as someone else stated) it's a JM first, and a stormtrooper second.

Honestly if it doesn't come with them I won't cry, I'll just attach my own :)

Those little missiles and clips. You know---the original JMs (Mazinga Z & Great Mazinga) didn't have any means to fire those missiles, but they had them anyway. They were just rolling around on their skates, lotsa ammo, no guns. Didn't make a lot of sense. Didn't make a lot of sense like, say, missles and clips on a Stormtrooper JM.

i.e. Stormtrooper JM should totally have missiles and clips. Those little things are very important to the JM aesthetic.

Having said that---I'll buy the damn thing no matter what it has or hasn't. It's just too cool. The proto perfectly nails the presence of a true JM.

Oh yeah, I'm buying one.

Indeed...I'm already brewing customization ideas. A stormtrooper shoulder pauldron...with missile clips on it. Box the stock blaster in favor of a full custom using a butchered missile-firing fist. Missiles whose bodies are painted, obviously, black. What else...? 8)

Don't forget a big-ass sticker with 'Stormtrooper' written in Katakana around his waist.

The missile clips will happen on mine if they don't come that way. Black Missiles with white vanes. If the right fist is the rocket punch I'll either customize the stock blaster to fire missiles, or paint a rocket firing fist white and mask it for black to break the color at the wrist like the actual stormtrooper armor.

There's a water gun add on arm that may also be fun to customize.

The stock blaster is *really* narrow, so I think customizing it wouldn't be a good idea. Just box it in case ya wanna sell the whole piece someday. Vintage missile fists (and missiles) are mad easy to come by, so you can scratch-build up a whole new blaster around one. Hell, get creative and make it triple-barreled!

The water gun attachment is much harder to come by and you risk the wrath of vintage JM collectors if you intend to cannibalize it for your new-fangled stormtrooper jumbo!

So...what's a good (i.e., cheap and readily available) vintage jumbo you can buy and cannibalize for its missile clips?? I'm thinking the Shogun Great Mazinga...

Brian, I don't think it's been covered yet but forgive me if it has and I missed it; are these built with the same dimensions as the vintage jumbos? I know it'll be 24" tall, but are the arm circumfrences the same? Can we easily add other jumbo accessory arms to them?

I'm thinking a custom kit needs to be in order. Gun, Pauldron, Waist sticker, missiles.

oh hell yeah.

Yes, but you also said "gussied." Is it wearing a whalebone corset? ;p

How about an Uzay-style Blue Stars version of the toy?

Okay, if this toy is "hyped" enough to get hillsy to start saying badass, then we deserve answers! :P

Nah, what I'm really curious about is whether the fists will detach and whether the vintage Jumbo arm attachments will be compatible. Any word on that, guys?
