Re: New Butanohana
I love the dime store omakes. Longneck has also done this to great effect (e.g. blank GID Moon Majin with skeleton).
It gives more of a pachi vibe to a licensed toy in the case of Sevenger. Although Buta's crude but perfect creations already give off their own funky vibe.
That shit is funky.

Re: New Butanohana
SPECTRENEWS: Looks like the Dust Man tease will have to wait... BUT... Silver Robo is just 'round the corner! BearModel's tubby take will be hard to beat, but if anyone can do it it's OMB.

Re: New Butanohana
Hell to the yes. That is one of my favorite BM sculpts, I am very happy to own it, right down to the feet that look like two big blocks of clay. You are right D, it will be hard to beat. Excited to acquire Ohashi's version soon and make an in-hand comparison. The teaser looks very promising. It looks like the paint job is a little more involved than your typical Buta release, which is good. I've wanted more Aghira-like paint jobs from OMB.
I think Mista Buta did himself and all of us a great service when he chose Spectreman kaiju, there are so many wacky, texture-laden monsters that fit his style beautifully.
And yes Grace, he absolutely needs to do an Alien Zuno.

Re: New Butanohana
This is awesome that he's doing kaiju from the Spectreman series. I missed out on Spectreman himself. But I definitely hope that I won't miss out on any of its kaiju!

Re: New Butanohana
That was an art piece for a gallery show of children's book illustrators. The character is based off the book shown. I am assuming Ohashi made the clay piece, made a paper mache casting which was then painted and sold at the gallery.

Re: New Butanohana
Hmmm... for a minute, I thought Mr. Ohashi was writing a story on Elvis . I think that paper mache piece would really translate well into a cookie. Perhaps Mr. Buta should start writing children's cookie and decorating books

Re: New Butanohana
The story is called something like "Dad Superstar" so I think the Elvis vibe is intentional.

Re: New Butanohana
Looks like another Silver Robo update could mark the release of some Spectreman villains. Not my favourite character to choose for a enemy offering, perhaps, but executed wonderfully of course. In addition to some other possible offerings, I have my fingers crossed that the hero sculpt will be re-released as well, given how popular it apparently is, and was not a 'special' release. You can never tell with Buta stuff though.

Re: New Butanohana
Could someone be a pal and post a link to the ButanoHana pre-order page? I don't wanna get too far behind. That Spectreman release is already going for $150-200! Ugh! I pursued the site but to no avail.

Re: New Butanohana
There is no pre-order. Sales are taken only through the website itself, and then only for Japanese customers. I am afraid it has always been this way. It used to be you could get more access through stores distributing a limited number in the US or Canada, and then just occasionaly as was possible, but it became more and more difficult for them to get stock. It is a very unfortunate situation; especially for fans like us. Such superb toys that should everyone should have some and appreciate them - I could not care less about holding their value. Pump 'em out like candy and I would be just as plum happy; even better to share the joy. And yes, the aftermarket on these toys is awful. But I guess not if you are a reseller.

Re: New Butanohana
Love the paint on Silver Robo, but the pic got pulled from his blog! What's up with that?! Still, it was replaced with a new mini Chibaijin. Sweet looking!

Re: New Butanohana
You can still see the Silver Robo if you click on the entry with the swans, but there is no final fully body shot availalbe.
This round of releases are all gems.

Re: New Butanohana
^There was a post after Ultraman with a full body shot of Silver Robo that showed more colors on the belly. Maybe he didn't like it and is re-working it. I'd be all over it if it was release as is. Should've save the pic.
