Re: Got paranoia?
Considering 6 of the 9 different bidders were bidding $500 or more, I'd say there are a handful of crazy people out there. This and the frankenruge(sp?) from a few weeks back is only going to make getting new nags even harder.

Re: Got paranoia?
Been getting a few PM's based on this incorrect assumption. I DID NOT PURCHASE THIS TOY. I have a trade thread trying to obtain one. $900+ for this toy is ridiculous. BUT whoever did get it - good luck to you and enjoy your purchase. Its a rad toy and I'd love one. People who knows me should know better than suggesting I would be the winner. Anyone who has money can throw money at building a collection, it takes tenacity and patience to score stuff at retail - either first time out or later via trading or just knowing cool folk. I didnt build my collection by paying ridculous amouts like that to get one. The last NNN auction I dropped out at $211. The most I've ever paid for a single toy is teh Kaws Dissected, and I actually sold toys and partially traded to purchase it - totally worth it - its killer. Seriously, I was just having a bit of fun with the old boy.
Muton has been super cool to me since I've been hanging around here. If I had a double of my Nag, I'd give one to him... well, maybe not GIVE...

Re: Got paranoia?
Apologies in advance if this horse has been beat to death elsewhere, but what is the thinking behind releasing these in versions of 10 each? The fact that this thread is 80+ pages is indication that N3 is developing a solid following.
- Small scale production house? - Scarcity drives continued demand? - Collecting is all about the pursuit, and they are remaining pure to the collector ethos?
It's something I've wondered about in the past, and would like to get some perspective from those who know.

Re: Got paranoia?
It's been mentioned several times. Shigeru is a one man operation. More than 10 or 13 at a time might be too much for him to paint, package, etc. I think this has been the general consensus. Although some still believe it is mostly to fuel the hype. Re: Got paranoia?
I'm sure I will never win a lottery now but I'm one of the ones who believes he does it for hype. Why not just release some unpainteds in a larger run? He seems to be following the Bemons footsteps and I'm wondering how long till he puts them on YJA too. The true test of a successful toy is when it sells out and it has a "normal" run size.

IF Shig does start dropping them on YJA, I want written apologies from the Nag Defender Corps.

Re: Got paranoia?
It could be a personal thing. I see it as an art piece. He loves making them and painting them but maybe he doesn't want to get burnt out on it. The figure seems to get pushed further and further every release. But when people with $900 dollars to blow start buying them we might as well kiss all nags good bye. I love all the releases and I would love to just get my hands on one whether it is panted or not but maybe it's just a project he doesn't want to get out to the masses.

Re: Got paranoia?
Do not forget these are being brought at retail its greed that's making people spend 900$+ on a figure he does not get any of the profit. In a few years these will be forgotten about and there will be a new hype toy space troopers anyone

Re: Got paranoia?
Looking at Nag next to a Trooper, well... there's really no comparison. I don't collect Anraku or Bemon, because I can't score them at retail and they're too pricey for me. The Mishka Nag at retail, was the most expensive toy I've ever bought. I'm not trying to hype the toy. I wish he would do an unlimited unpainted run and I could score a second nag at retail. and everyone who wants one or doubts the figure, could check it out. It really is a very cool toy. And the paints are incredible, like hours spent on each figure. Plus plugging hair, plus sewing pants. No wonder each run is only 13. I don't think these guys will always go for a G, but I think they'll always be on an Anraku or Bemon level, fetching 400-500.

This line seems trivial in comparison to AA and Bemon, not even in the same universe. Way too much shock value PR and hype to consider this on the same level. Maybe when Honda san and AA start doing Alice Cooper tribute Bemons and Gogas though. AA easily has a more devoted and affluent fan base than Bemon. There's something that seems extremely Western about this toy in promotion, foot stamp, and releases.
