Re: Hirota Saigansho: Gorilla-ju & Mecha Gorilla-ju
Just received mine and will be posting shots later if I manage to find some spare time. I love the vinyl colour, grey but with a olive shade that sits perfectly with the mint green touches (and contrasts very well with the dark red mouth and the yellow egg yoke missle). And he shines as if he'd been lubed! Brilliant toy that's all I can say.

Just an FYI, posting links to live auctions is highly frowned upon in these parts.

How is someone on the board for 2 years and doesn't know that? Cmon, take that down man.
This whole situation is lame. There's no good "better him then others flipping it man" argument. It's lame. It's not my place to tell these guys how to conduct business, but it is my place to state my opinion, being that this is some lame crap. Maaaaybe if we got a "charity" excuse, but otherwise, meh. Sucks.

Gotta say, it's lame for us, but not so much for him. Maybe he needs the money. Who knows.

Re: Hirota Saigansho: Gorilla-ju & Mecha Gorilla-ju
interesting...... I wonder if he is testing the market for a price increase of some kind. meaning if he can sell this one-off for $500 then maybe he knows he can raise his price to $250-$300.

I am hoping that maybe since it's a super limited edition he figured it was the best way to sell it? Maybe use those proceeds to set up future releases? Maybe it's me being naive though, given the secondary market prices on these. I'm not Hirota so I can't say what's on his mind. I doubt he would go through all the trouble to set up selling overseas then suddenly change it to auctions?

Re: Hirota Saigansho: Gorilla-ju & Mecha Gorilla-ju
It's not hard for anyone to imagine how tempting it is for these makers to go that route with what they see on the aftermarket, but at the same time the way I look at things, why take advantage of something good, keep it steady etc.. but im also not trying to run a business with it.
I have tons of respect for HxS, the quality of his toys are mind blowing and I am grateful that he decided to sell overseas. Hopefully this won't be a trend for his regular releases, if so I would just stop collecting them like anyone else who goes that route. Its sucks, but none of these toys are worth $1000 to me.

Re: Hirota Saigansho: Gorilla-ju & Mecha Gorilla-ju
i think everyone here agrees we would rather have the toy maker get the money rather than the flippers. but at $200 after conversion and shipping, it's already expensive even at retail.

Re: Hirota Saigansho: Gorilla-ju & Mecha Gorilla-ju
it's a double edged sword
in one hand you want the figure to stay at the current price but flippers will end up lining their pockets
on the other hand, the artist gets the extra money charged per figure, flippers get less (if any), but you end up paying more

Re: Hirota Saigansho: Gorilla-ju & Mecha Gorilla-ju
you guys read into things too much. also, talking for 10 pages about how much you love it really gives the flippers who read the board more fodder to go on.
I think $160 is fine for what they are. if he has a run of 3 and wants to sell them on yja, why not do it to fund future releases?
we all know who is going to win it anyway, I don't know why anyone would even bother being disappointed.
