 Re: New Gargamel Figs!
Isn't it just inspired by the kaiju anatomy drawings? I've seen Yamobazookas and Eyezons similarly cut

Maybe I'm misinterpreting the photos. Anyways, interesting new direction. Still not sold on the new winged sculpt though.

 Re: New Gargamel Figs!
The kiyoka x chanman zag is not cut out. They are actually masked painted to reveal part if the guts. The miboras on the other hand are precisely cut at areas he designed. Was talking a bit to kiyoka about these cut out miboras. He first experimented on the red eye mibora with center eye cut out a little like battle scars. He likes the direction and effect and decided to make the other one with blue eyes though it took quite some time and effort. These looks great in person as the scaly surface works well with the cut up. I particularly like the little details like the cut horn on the red eye piece.
I was expecting quite a few more figures from kiyoka but there wasn't that many. Nice show overall and was great catching up with friends! How i miss thrashout.

 Re: New Gargamel Figs!
If anyone thought the prices were high just get a load of what M-World is trying to fxxking pull: 68,000 for a Miborah and they are offering a Kiyoka and a Naoya at those prices. What a bunch of COCKS! Just saying!

I'd love to see a Hedo set done in tiger stripes. What's next leopard print?

While I am not even thinking about getting a 1-off at this time in my life, I will say these are all flat out gorgeous. I would love to see some of them in person at some point

 Re: New Gargamel Figs!
I'm actually not a fan of the animal prints. I never really got the Kiyoka Panda hedo either. Cool technique but it wouldn't necessarily fit on my shelf.
That being said...the gardudans, miborahs and zags look incredible.

If I could have gotten someone to score a piece, I definitely would have dropped funds. Some of those customs are my favorite customs hand down.

bryce_r wrote: I'm actually not a fan of the animal prints. Me either. The camo is/was cool - if overrated - but the tiger stripes....ehhhhh. But then I don't really care for the clear bodies with guts either. Nothing really stands out as the texture on the clear body obfuscates the colors and detail on the guts, and the body itself is less defined than solid sprays on a solid body.

 Re: New Gargamel Figs!
^ I agree, solid sprays on a solid body are probably my fave. Although I like clear, camo, and stripes as well. I think the Zag/Miborah body is often made more interesting with clear vinyl, camo, etc. etc. But for the Deathra body in particular, solid rules. All the gnarly creases and folds are best appreciated that way.

 Re: New Gargamel Figs!
The tiger stripes are nicely done by naoya this time. Really good looking in real. I think the real tiger colour in orange and black fits superbly. Perhaps monotone scheme to look like albino tigers would work well too but i think this paint style will lose its meaning if other non tiger colours are applied. Same for camo, i totally like those paints that are associated with military colours. The rest of the candy or non military ones are a little irrelevant to the camo theme although some do look good in real. I like the variety of solids vs clear with guts too. I think it is great that the different style appeals differently otherwise we will all be going after the same stuff. Personally i would like to collect different styles and in different time to see how the ikeda brothers painting evolve over the years.

 Re: New Gargamel Figs!
^ I agree that all the different paint applications and patterns are awesome, but disagree about the tiger pattern needing to be orange. I think the association with tiger is nice but the stripe pattern could be really wild, think about all the crazy patterns on tropical fish or butterflies. Really any color combination, it doesn't have to be a tiger.

I'm really liking the painted versions of Garudan.. missed out in this years Lucky Bags, hopefully there's a retail release soon. Here's a little graphic that I drew up over the weekend to celebrate the new character and the Thrash Out show featuring the winged monster!

 Re: New Gargamel Figs!
Looks like some incredible stuff at the show - and some great info and commentary in this thread. While I'm not completely sold on the animal print style (I preferred the series Blobpus did a few years ago - seemed to work better on a dokugan) - the paint mask innard reveals, and the vinyl cut-outs (following the line of sculpt) look fantastic. Nothing much beats the excitement of a Gargamel show reveal - and anyone who attended this one likely became suitably moist Nice job Garga-pals!
