 Re: New Gargamel Figs!
I'm sure most people have noticed, but the new Oriental Dullahan figure is up on Gargamel for order. http://gargamel.jp/eccube/html/products/detail.php?product_id=204The vinyl on this is an amazing color and I like that light can still some what pass through it. The figure itself is very interesting and has a neat history. It seems very much based on the Irish legend of the Dullahan: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DullahanThe header art also seems to reference the monster's appearance in several Castlevania games and RPGs like Shining Force and Final Fantasy III. The creature is typically mounted on horseback, which the current version is not. The stance of the figure and space between it's legs seems like it could possibly fit atop some sort of mount. I wonder if that is something that will come later.

 Re: New Gargamel Figs!
Didn't know all the backstory on the character. I remember it now from Castlevania! The customs they had up for the Thrashout Show were amazing.

Yeah. I got that same vinyl but painted and putting it against the light is a real treat.

There's also a heavy reference to the Dragon Quest series, even down to using the phrase "Vinyl Quest", drawn in a very similar fashion to the official Dragon Quest logo. Cool stuff.

Now I have one in hand, I think these are better than the Deathra. I was a bit concerned about the proportions of the head & wings but they're spot on.

 Re: New Gargamel Figs!
Learned a weird fact poking around the Gargamel archives: Bullmask and Gargamess are the same character.
The blurb next to the Bullmask releases says that this (Bullmask) was Gargamess' outfit while training in Mexico.

 Re: New Gargamel Figs!
Looking at the Garg blog and found it interesting, yet not surprising that all of the custom figures seem to have sold except for those Conifa's... If the cold reception for those things in the past haven't been enough to retire that sculpt, maybe this will be the final nail in the coffin.
On another note, there was an image posted as to the Toycon UK exclusives and one is a Zag. Does anyone know if it's gonna be a pocket size or a full size (yet)?

I dig the Conifas, just got my first in the mail today and I'm loving it. Some of those Naoya one-off Conifas are just rad...thanks for the heads up on them. But I think you are right, the sculpt may not be around that much longer with so little interest.

 Re: New Gargamel Figs!
The clear green standard Zagoran is the stuff of legend. The only other one I've ever seen was a one off custom sold at SDCC 2009 and caused quite a stir in line when it was snagged. It was quite the beauty and one of my favorites ever! I really hope I can score one of these from Toycon.

 Re: New Gargamel Figs!
yeah it is really good - purple and green work so well together and of course conjures images of joker and the great devastator...and imo is even better with clear vinyl.
Good luck in your hunt!

 Re: New Gargamel Figs!
I really hope this is only the beginning and we see more standard gargamel releases of their classic toys. The customs are great and all but it's production style zags like this one that really get me excited.
