I was sitting at work refreshing the eBay listing over and over and over and I got in. I'm so happy that I did since I missed out on the Garimpo (anyone wanna flip that my way? Please?). It made my subpar morning / afternoon that much better.

Whoa, and I thought I started some muck raking on an exclusive. Sheesh! Most of you are more dedicated and know the secret channels that the rest of us are just stumbling upon. Your collections are balls over walls better than 99% of those of us just starting. Fanatics all.
Sometimes I forget why I collect little blobs of dinosaur remains shaped as cute little scary monsters. Oh yeah, it's Fun.
And if it wasn't for flippers, the thrill of hunting would be gone.

I hope you're just kidding, because that is just an insane assertion if not. The fact of demand outweighing supply provides "thrill" enough without ethics-challenged flippers perverting supply and valuation.
Flippers just plain suck. All self-interest, no honor.

Never ending debate.
If something is released in Japan and you can't be at the store to purchase it, flippers allow one to get said item if one is willing to bite the bullet and pay. Just saying...

You mean to tell me that ethics are only found in the companies purposefully putting out limited numbers and creating an artificial demand for their product?! C'mon, there's enough demand that if they made larger batches they would sell a larger quantitative amount. If not for flippers, they might NEVER be available to us stateside or after the stores allotments run dry.

your battle against flippers reminds me to the story of sysyphos from the greek mythology. As long there will be rare and cool toys, flippers will try to catch them to make big $$$

'Tis true and sucky.
Gold ichibanboshi on yja (orginally cost near 4000yen (35USD), flipped for a BIN of over 200USD. That's disgusting. yeah, it's sold out, but why? because assholese like that are buying them up and holding them at ransom. There's nothing that can be done. It's sad, but if we hold out, eventually we'll find it somewhere for a halfway decent price or for a fair trade. I'm trying to just leave flippers out of the equation when I can.

I think this is really the only solution for flippers. Don't pay the high prices. Flippers won't do it if they are only making $5-$10 off a figure. And Ramos seems to have found another option.
And it should be pointed out that the creators don't profit from the secondary market aside from the extra hype for their product.

Amen.
But I guess so long as ppl don't know about communities like this one, they're going to shell out the money. Befor RFSO, I thought the flipper way was the only way. Hell, that's partly why I didn't even start collecting until recently. So Lemme just say THANKS to all of you, for showing me different.

Yes, sometimes flippers are a last resort ... I've bought from them at times and so have others who feel even more negatively about them than I do. I don't think anybody's teaching anyone anything here that isn't already known. Nevertheless, I don't care for what the worst of them do on principle and am sticking to that.

I have no problem with paying a reasonable markup from 'flippers' who will sit in line for hours/days for Japan toy shows. I see it as a service, in the same sense that Celga charges fees for following up on YJA auctions.
So how bout that Galtan, eh? More RFSO releases, please.

I guess the flippers are a part of the family and we have to accept it. There are dealers wich living from selling toys, artists who create them, companies who produce them, collectors who buy and sell them and last but not least the flippers wich want to make the fast money.
Sometimes collectors flip some stuff, dealers flip some toys, flippers collect some toys... Its a mix and thats the way it is.
PS The Galtan has a great colorway, excellent job.

I should mention that I have bought from plenty of flippers and I still do. I'm not against paying a price for for that special figure but there's that line between a slight mark/profit up and out right extortion...
The great people here have saved me tons of money over the past few years.

Most of them creatures don't like what we do.
I'm always amazed at those who are able to mate up with those who sympathize.
