 Re: M1 Giant Kanegon
If by "OG" you mean vintage, there is no vintage giant Kanegon. It's a scaled up version of the standard Marusan/Bullmark Kanegon.

One color can be chosen, could one choose the metallic color ?

I couldn't find this announced on the M1 webpage. Was this only announced by email?

 Re: M1 Giant Kanegon
Regarding OG-ness...
The reason the giant Kanegon was created in the first place was when Yuji Nishimura was a kid, he saw a picture of a Kanegon in a magazine that, due to the perspective, looked giant. He grew up believing that Bullmark made a Kanegon store display like they did for Gomora, Eleking, and Jirass.
Eventually he found out that no such store display was ever created, so he made this one. But for a long time there were collectors who believed that there actually was a vintage one due to knowledge of Yuji's search, and that's why I thought that bannedindc might have been asking about a vintage giant Kanegon when he mentioned "OG."
Now you know. And knowing is half the battle.

I just checked my mailbox, not my email box! Regular mail is still the way to go, analog rules! Got the info and now I gotta figure out what to do.

 Re: M1 Giant Kanegon
I really love the GID version but think re-releasing these is a bad idea. I searched long and hard and saved for one of the originals, now anyone with the bux can just pick up the exact same thing (the molds are the same and the blue version looks identical). What if they started to do exact re-releases of all those hyper-limited designer art "toys" you kids collect? The value of the originals would go down and wouldn't you feel like the search is not worth it anymore? btw I paid just about the same price for my original and shipping was about $500. Here's a pic of him "coming out". He was wrapped in tons of bubble wrap and simply put in a box. I got lucky nothing was damaged. If you order one, be sure they are wrapped securely.

Loved that old skool color.

 Re: M1 Giant Kanegon
That's really amazing. I thought it was shipped with parts separated. I had been hearing that M1 will release the GID one since 2004. The toy shop owner in my area is close friend of 西村 祐次, we had quite a lot of collectors here that passed him the message to make the GID giant kanegon for years. Eventually he really make it. And we are now asking him to do favor to add more than 1 color...

 Re: M1 Giant Kanegon
I guess another way to look at this is that is just a continuation of the original run. I bought mine on the aftermarket and it came assembled. They probably were apart when they originally shipped.

Mark, they were shipped assembled in a box you could have put a Yugo in. I had to help a friend pit his together though and you do not want to experience that. Brutal.

 Re: M1 Giant Kanegon
Hi I got a message from M-world service in Japan that they can act as middleman for a giant Kanegon. It seems cheaper to get it in pieces. I have one problem I dont understand what a foaming agent and gypsum is used for , or what a Bari is that they say I would have to cut off myself? Is this the umbilical cord? Anyway heres the email- is this conplicated anyone?
The price of "Giant Kanegon Blue Kit" is 88,000Yen. This includes all costs except for the international shipping cost.
Kit: UNPAINTED. Unconstructed. You will have to cut off "BARI(sorry, I can't translate this in English)". You will have to put "Foaming agents" in the body. You will have to put "Gypsum" in legs. You will have buy "Foaming agents" and "Gypsum" in your country.
Sorry, I can't tell you the shipping cost for the kit.
The sales quantity of the kit is small. If you want this, please let me know as soon as possible.
Thank you.

 Re: M1 Giant Kanegon
bari is probably the extra vinyl flash that you will need to trim off each piece that you receive. if it's a kit, it's probably in pieces directly from the factory. foaming agent is probably in regards to using a detergent/gentle soap and washing it when you receive it before putting it together. gypsum is a rock/mineral. i'm wondering if he's suggesting that you put some type of weight in the feet to keep it balanced. My M1 Booska that is only 18" tall has trouble standing without manipulating the legs as it's top heavy. I'm sure there are others who have the previous edition that can speak to this. These are all generalizations I'm making here, and I could be completely full of it

 Re: M1 Giant Kanegon
my guess is it is a two part expanding closed cell foam for internal structure. Like in surf boards .ive seen this before in big displays.Gypsum for weight in the legs. I dont believe my kanegon has this, they must be making it much thinner this time around .

 Re: M1 Giant Kanegon
I saw one disassembled Kanegon at M1GO's world headquarters and it was filled completely with some sort of material that seemed like it was poured in there. When I asked what it was, the only word they could come up with is "fiberglass," and they said that it was required so that the figure wouldn't deform and crack under its own weight.
One of the reasons they didn't make a glow one for a while was because this foam would show through the vinyl. The disassembled one I saw was cast in glow vinyl and I could see what they were describing as I examined it. Maybe these ones are going to have thicker vinyl, or more opaque material to solve this issue.
