One would assume at this point in the game a run of 20 would not be enough for these things.

that doesnt change the fact that it was knowingly underproduced, probably to drive up hype/demand, which is kind of lame.(imo)

from what i know,,they were all painted by tossy..a one man job...as a store launch exclusive...

with this kind of figure,,that involves painting the figure itself,,mask,,innards,,and cleaver...

that is a lot of work for one figure,,let alone twenty.......all by one person

well we dont exactly have the size of the editions published for us to make direct comparisons. But judging by terms of recent availablity of later editions, which up until this specific edition has never been a problem, it seems kind of odd, that all of a sudden it's an issue. Just saying.

I think "in store exclusive" really kind of limits where they can sell it and how many they were ever going to produce in the first place.

the obvious being that up until now,,no other releases were announced as being painted by tossy himself,,therefore it is safe to assume that he had to put a lot of time & effort into each one & only a few were made..

pretty simple,,no hype marketing in my eyes...

I have to admit the detail of tossy painting these himself escaped me. I asssumed these were made via the same channels all boogies have been made, and in those circumstances, you can agree...that run size has not been an issue(recently).
So taking that into consideration i can understand...but it still sucks.
My perspective is, I have managed to stay near completiion for reasonable prices up until this edition and now I have to pay 3-400% above retail or possibly more to score this one? It's a little upsetting, and I know I'm not alone in this boat.
This is the best editon released to date in my opinion, which only rubs salt into the wound.
I wouldnt feel so put out if i didn't desire and admire it.

I hope we will get lucky and this will be an "exclusive" in the same sense that the SDCC shaved ice was an "exclusive".

I'll be honest, it really fucks me off when an exclusive turns out not to be an exclusive. Even if that means I get a chance at it.

Yeah it seems like a dishonest marketing practise.... but it happens so often. This is one case where I hope it happens for purely selfish reasons, as I really don't want to have to pay a flipper for this toy.

Have to say I am disappointed about this one. I tried hard to find out prior to release if this would be a true store exclusive (case in point - Bootleg Kaiju for Echo Park Mishka store opening 2 weeks prior was in-store exclusive, but some were available elsewhere) but could get no info. If I could I might have pleaded with somene in Tokyo to try and get one for me.

WIth lack of info, and all other Mishka boogies easy to get I was hoping I'd be ok.

But as u say this IS teh nature of the game. I've been lucky (Valentines day DX) and unlucky (virtually EVERY zollmen lottery, NagNagNag etc...) .

Someone above mentioned any larger numbers and there'd be flippers. Disagree - the propensity for flipping anything seems high in Japan (would u agree its been virtually eliminated here?) so regardless of numbers they will be flipped.

One other thing: also tired of seeing the best versions of something being hardest to get (e.g. Pop Soda Mutant Evil and plenty of RxH) - fnd that annoying when as a collector you've supported something for years and than cant get the good stuff. This is what burned me on Nike SB's - I could get all teh so-so releases, spend my money, then some killer shoe came out - nope, HAD to know someone.

OK, I digress, back on point - this IS a killer release, disappointed not to be a get, hope it will be. The search continues.

I agree this is a very nice release, but... I wish it wasn't wasted on mishka, no offence to all those involved, but I'm not a fan of the head & mask on this guy.

You guys are all crying and I didn't even get one. We were so busy at the store we didn't realize they would sell out so quickly. We had very limited info on how many would be shipped last minute. John Prolly was lucky enough to snag one for himself and we made fun of him for being so eager to get one.

if it wasn't for Mishka, this colorway would have never happened. Like I said, it's a FHP of my design and Tossy just copied what we wanted.

Digression: FHP; I get confused on this one; so in this case Joel you painted the master, and then Tossy is the factory and hand paints each one? How do FHP's differ fomr regular factory painted versions, just that teh master is not hand painted and entirleyt factory designed based on mock-ups? interested to know

Yes, someone fucked up including myself. Usually I put my reserve early which I did not do this time. Just overwhelmed with everything going on. I kind of put these guys in the back of my mind till the day the store opened and saw that they arrived that morning.

Yes, I painted the master to be copied. Just like the FHP Mongolions. Chose vinyl colors first and then painted for Tossy to copy. The reason why it was so limited also was because of the amount of work it took to paint each one.

did tossy really paint this run himself?

anyway, i think 20 is a good run number for boogies these days.
any more, they will probably be sitting on the shelves for good or has to be sold elsewhere diluting a true "shop only exclusive".
at close to JPY15k retail, it is an expensive figure.

have some patience, maybe we will be able to pick up for close to or even under retail at some point if no one is pulling the trigger at first sight, leaving the resellers confused and desperate to cash out.

This was a Japan only exclusive primarily for the reason of timing and that Tossy could only HP 20 in time for the opening I didnt even think they would sell out that fast, just a kick ass colorway!

First off: Congrats to Greg & Joel on a simply mindblowing release, definitely the baddest one yet.

Concerning the SDCC Boogie, I'm sorry to say it doesn’t seem to be doing much for anyone, myself included. This one is a whole other beast – clear, GID, blood, ROTTING FLESH!!! Come on, you knew these were gonna fly! And while I realize that this was probably a very last-minute job, I just can't help but feel a bit let down that the fans didn't at least get a shot at ONE of these through the usual channels. I didn't get a V-Boot either, but I'm totally fine with that because I know I actually had a chance of getting one.

And as for the "in-store" exclusive part: So was the first Boogie, which then became more and more widely available pretty quickly. Which I think is fine, because otherwise I would have had to be content with watching these get flipped and would probably never have owned one.

All this said – here's hoping that the next release of the Mishka Boogie will bring even MORE gory awesomeness to the table and be actually available! Oh, and best of luck to Carl, Kevin and everybody else already hunting these – hit me up if you succeed and don't feel them...
