I want to pull the trigger but I'll probably wait for NYCC and see what versions show up. From what I understand, the final production vinyl will be this size. Almost 16", I believe.

I'm sure Luke will agree his costs are a bit cheaper because he's his own wax guy, and now vinyl puller, plus he's shipping direct. I'd LOVE to be able to do this for both cost purposes and the artistry. These cut out a lot of the price tag that most of us can't unfortunately. That price though is indeed amazing for such a killer sculpt toy and size wise. I want to paint one so badly ! Best Grody toy yet

You should definitely pick one up, Rich. I'm pretty excited to see what paint apps come from various artists for this beast.

Just incase anyone didn't see the recent Lulu newsletter, Amy confirmed there will indeed be a chain connecting the cuffs... even more stoked on these!

My anal-retentive moment (who am I kidding, "moment"): Is it one of those Le Merde things where the bad French is on purpose? If it is, I truly don't get the point. If it's not, we're living in the age of the internetsss. Do take five seconds to proofread.

Given Luke's previous "Young Gohst" and "Sherbert Monster" releases, there's a good chance it's intentional. Or he's a very bad speller.

So Le Merde, Bwana, Luke... It's an epidemic! I have to say I don't quite get it. I guess it's just a f* you to us, people-who-care-about-these-things.

petitetoilonrouge wrote: So Le Merde, Bwana, Luke... It's an epidemic! I have to say I don't quite get it. I guess it's just a f* you to us, people-who-care-about-these-things. Just so you know, I do ALL anything that has to do with newsletters, online sales, press releases, etc. Basically anything typed - Luke is in a studio working with his hands 24/7/365. I ran the name through Collins Online Dictionary, and it told me "Grande" with an e at the end was used for size, without an e for things like time. It gave me Grande Maison for a huge house, and Grand Frere & Grand Jour for things more related to time. So make my long story longer, I do care, and I do try, and I am only human. My research obviously failed. My educated guess based on research didn't work out as I intended. Spelling changed. More importantly than my extra "e" however I would hope people would notice other things about this release too. A really rad artist who is passionate about this world had a really amazing sculptor create a really rad tribute to a monster many love. And we decided to charge a really reasonable price so more people could enjoy all the awesome. I'm not really sure how much MORE thought could have been put into this guy. For you all. Side note: One thing I really wish people could understand about Luke, myself and Lulubell are we are TWO people, in two countries, who do EVERY part of our business. We have no real staff, we have a handful of angels/family that help us. We have no other side business that funds our toy business. Between kids, and volunteer work, and life I squeeze in what I do on the road, in a parking lot, at midnight, whatever it takes. If we miss the boat, we eat ramen and buy clothes at thrift stores, just like other struggling people do. We sacrifice ourselves to keep prices down. We don't have hired staff because we keep our margin small to truly pass on the benefits to those who love the hobby, but can't afford to go broke over it. We're not for everyone. We fuck up. All the time. But never due to lack of caring. That's why I can rarely read SB. It bums me out to read some people's assumptions that never seem to line up with what we do for the community. Make cool things. Charge really great prices. Bring stuff to the US that normally people would have to pay huge ship fees or buy on the aftermarket. Have fun. All our intentions always seem to get lost. Because we operate so differently than anyone else? Cause we fuck up more than anyone else? Both? It's our struggle daily. But Charging 500%- 1000% over our cost just isn't ever going to be our business model. We'd rather close our doors first. I was just going to change the spelling, (I NEVER post here), but since this post was brought to my attention, I thought it would be weird to just change it online & I have no other way to fill in the blanks, so here you go. I mean, isn't the greatest f-you actually not saying something to someone personally? I don't operate in that way & my dream is someday others won't either. The struggle is real. Every day. But we're still fighting the good fight IMO. Won't you all join us?

Re: Grody Shogun - New Stuff
Amy I think our French grammarian meant it was an f-you only if you were intentionally misspelling something. Like you were trying to mess with people who get bent when it comes to grammar. All the comments leading up to that were straight Grody praise.
You should have rolled with it and claimed "grande" was actually Spanish.
Off to order mine...

That was a very insightful post Luluamy. Thanks for sharing all that, it's always neat to learn a little more about the people behind the toys I enjoy.
I think the name is now one of the coolest parts of this toy and I really hope you don't change it.

Re: Grody Shogun - New Stuff
It was like Shankweather said, Amy - I meant a wilful f* you to people who care about grammar, to tease them, like Le Merde did with his name and like Bwana does with... well pretty much everything. I am not sure how my comment got construed as an attack on your business model. To clarify, I don't get people who wilfully misspell stuff. If you tried to get it right and it didn't work out... Well, good for you. I don't know how to say without sounding patronizing, but Google is your friend and is worth a few minutes if you indeed want to avoid making spelling mistakes in a foreign language. It would have told you Françios doesn't exist (a little red jiggly line appears under the word as I am typing it) but François is a common name and will give you hundreds of thousands of hits (plus Françios will auto-correct to François). Grande vs Grand is a bit trickier, granted. I'm not sure how you got the time vs size concept. Grand is for masculine nouns, Grande for feminine (and there is no logic whatsoever behind what gender nouns are). François le Grand it is. Lulubell / Grody Shogun are nice companies. Maybe they should post on sb more often (old controversies notwithstanding) and ask for the help of the numerous Frenchies here to alleviate their work? (Second controversy in a week for me. Must be the full moon.)

Also worth keeping in mind is that Oli is a dirty Canadian French grammar nerd. They're the worst kind of people.

Wow, Amy I think I love you. In all seriousness you are a great writer and that was fun to read. Some of my most recent buys were from Lulubell. (SDCC Staple baby, Bahnee, and Multum in Parvo) and all 3 are beautiful and total wins for my collection. A lulu box at your door is a box of joy. I remember like 5 years ago when you were basically another toy site. You've come a long way baby. Now lulu is probably one of THE destinations for great toys in the game. I check it often and adore you. Keep your chin up. Even if nobody meant to dis you, I just wanted to say that. Muah! <3
