Oh, it is just stupid and immature. I'm not saying it's not, I'm, in fact, saying I AM! I don't think it's funny because it's "dangerous" or "punk" or anything, it just makes me giggle is all. If someone says "fuck you!" to me I just laugh with them, think "whatever, yeah, FUCK ME!" and keep going.

It's jsut not worth all the commentary, now in which I've added to. Damn it, I fell in the trap!!!!! :x

Post Re: Got paranoia?
I see two groups of people in this discussion, one talking on the toy level (leaning more +ve), others are on the brand (-ve). Brand meaning not just what the thing is, but what it represents.

The creator has decided be punk about it, to challenge the norm. FIne and great (clap clap) but it also has to realize its biting the hands that feeds him IF he really wants to make this into a business. If on the other hand the creator wants to just make this as art, then that is totally cool too in my books. He can say Fuck U very much to whoever he wants to.

The stamp on the foot is unlike Kozik's smoking figures or anarchy symbols or what not.
First, it isn't a major part of the design as say the cigarette or anarchy symbol.
Two, it isn't even visible unless one carefully examines the figure.

While it may hint or echo punk, I don't t see how having the stamp FUSA is an appeal to 15-20 year olds.
Finally, you're also forgetting the initial release date and the other foot stamp.

Sure it is. "They" have gone out of their way to take a picture of the foot stamp and display it whenever they get a chance. How many other toy releases do that? They have made the foot stamp an integral part of the design and of the marketing scheme. Many, if not most, people who buy this would lift this guy off the shelf and hand it to any visitor (except their parents or their grandparents) and say "take a look at what is written on the foot."

FUSA appeals to that age cohort just because it seems somehow rebellious.

+ve = positive

-ve = negative

If that's what your question mark meant.

Well we all have our opinions on it I guess.

Anyway, I think the orangish one is the best of them so far. I also like the double-face. Nice work on the figure itself.......whoever you are! ::DUN DUN DUNNUUNUNUNUN!!!!!!!::

I love the toy. The crude sculpt, creepy look and the paint applications (Frankenruge tribute, c'mon) appeal to immensely. I would take any of them, if given the chance of purchasing.

I don't give a single shit what it says on its foot. If that's unpatriotic of me, then that's fine.

I just read an interesting article on how this Japanese artist's work last year was later banned before the opening of the Biennale due to public outcry as bad taste. His work consisted of organizing a plane to spray white smoke in the japanese word "Flash" in the sky over the city. During this stunt he took pictures of the word in the sky with the commemorative (possibly the only surviving?) tower from the holocaust. He also lit black fireworks too which formed a mushroom next to the tower as another artwork.

The "Flash"-thing was done by Japanese collective "Chim↑Pom", the "Black Fireworks" were done by Cai Guo-Qiang. Some interesting articles on these here and here, more pictures can be found at Cao's blog (2008, fourth from top).

Calvin, sorry if I came across as a smart-ass - I had never actually heard of "Chim↑Pom" and their stunt before, but the fireworks you mentioned immediately reminded me of Cai Guo-Qiang and I went from there.
