Re: Got paranoia?
Ah alright - I guess it's just the paranoia finally kicking in then... And I also thought these "performances" or whatever one might call them add an interesting perspective on things considering the hefty reactions. Seems the "Fuck USA" footstamp would be the least problem a larger audience might have with this figure...

Re: Got paranoia?
I still disagree but whatever. Do you have the same thoughts about Dehara's "I Love Pussy" Morlins? Do you believe he's trying to appeal to the "15 to 20 something male demographic" ? geotaro wrote: liquidsky wrote: First, it isn't a major part of the design as say the cigarette or anarchy symbol. Two, it isn't even visible unless one carefully examines the figure.
Sure it is. "They" have gone out of their way to take a picture of the foot stamp and display it whenever they get a chance. How many other toy releases do that? They have made the foot stamp an integral part of the design and of the marketing scheme. Many, if not most, people who buy this would lift this guy off the shelf and hand it to any visitor (except their parents or their grandparents) and say "take a look at what is written on the foot." FUSA appeals to that age cohort just because it seems somehow rebellious.

Does FUSA in Japanese count? Actually that says something about patience and it's not really on my foot, but it could be.

Re: Got paranoia?
do you know what i hate? when people describe anything besides music or hairstyles as "punk". being derivative is not punk. being rebellious, blasphemous, anti-establishment, political, or aggressively offensive-- none of these are synonymous with punk. they may be part of a band's statement, but the music is punk. the attitude or ideals existed before the music. fucking shite, man. toys are never punk and they never will be. toys with mohawks are not punk. punk-inspired? that doesn't even make sense to me. an artist's influences are not THEIR content.

Re: Got paranoia?
I left the hardcore punk scene when most of my heroes sold out and started making toys instead of music.Luckily the rave scene with all its diy ideals came along just at the right time.We stopped the poll tax and took back the dancefloor.

Re: Got paranoia?
Actually, I was using the word 'punk' in it's original context of a catamite, or the bottom half in a male-male sexual relationship. That would explain the apparently prolapsed rectum quite nicely I think. Also, to limit the use of a word in such a way is to deny that language is organic, a fact I think you'd find it difficult to deny, given that your last sentance: uberboy wrote: an artist's influences are not THEIR content. makes no sense at all, grammatically or otherwise.
