About 6 months ago my band played with A Path Of Resistance. It's all the dudes from Earth Crisis, plus 2 other dudes. As lame as it sounds, it was really cool to meet and play with the people that are highly responsible for me turning out this way, and having the passion for music that I do. No fun making, of me that is!

Check the DNA crew representing hard on the cover of the first PATH record!
xxx

that's such a ridiculous record cover. i wish i had went up there for it.

While I am in near total agreement with everything you have said, I have to take issue with this...
as I am close with these fellows, this is in no way the case...

In high school at the Jersey shore, I migrated into Hardcore/Straight-EdgeHC from the punk and ska scenes. I was never straight-edge (except by default), but I did dig on the Hardcore scene for awhile. That is until I got sick of being preached at and beat up for trying to listen to music. Moshing had its fun, but the HC pit is brutal. Fists flying, sweaty nasty dudes- does anyone remember that dance move from the HC pit where the punker just swings and rotates his arms like a windmill, flailing his fists both in front of and behind him?

In the end, I found I loved my punk to be irreverent AND political AND occassionally fun (like the DKs). the Hardcore scene at the Jersey Shore was also the MOST exclusionary scene, you had to have a members card and some sharpied hands to even talk to some of those kids at the shows. they'd just ignore you as not "hardcore" enough.

by the way, there is and always has been "one truth"
strife 4eva!

I also have been listening to Hardcore and going to shows since I was 16. I just recently saw Earth Crisis at their reunion show in Ventura. I gotta say, they put on an amazing set, just as they did back in the day. If I had the chance to see them over and over again, I would in a heart beat!

Now, about falling off the edge, STRIFE just played at a local Kung Fu Studio, but I missed the show. For those who did not know, Andrew from STRIFE is co-owner of TRADITION shoes/clothing co. They are another shop that carries vinyl figures.
