This is pretty much what they retail for in Japan. Expensive both places. Why are Original-Fake and BxH shirts so expensive?
A BxH shirt retails for 6090 yen over here so $70 is about right.

It let's them keep control of the product more and keep it in only stores they want and funds other projects (for bxh at least) that don't do as well, including some tee's. Otherwise these companies would have to skim the market, meaning output a lot more and charging less hoping to make it up in volume, which could mean they put their brand in stores that just want the latest hot ticket or possibly just put it on a rack next to Volcom tees. Which would also cause them to gear stuff towards "being able to sell" rather than putting out what they wanted because buyers at most stores are idiots. Yeah Stussy does it, but 98% of what they do looks like crap or the same outside of special projects. I'd like the price point to be cheaper given I have about 60 none toy BxH items and would buy WAY more, but if it let's them do what they do so be it.

It seems like the price point is right on these shirts given that they seem to sell out all the time. If nobody bought them at $70, i bet you would see a price adjustment. I think there's also that "exclusive" element amongst the people that do drop that much on tees. I would never pay that much though, my limit is about $20. I'm cheap, I just get stuff on sale and at sample sales.

Clothes, particularly anything cool/hip/interesting, are ridiculously expensive in Japan. Nobody blinks at $75 - $100 for a t-shirt over there. In their defense, most of the clothing companies make their own blanks, and the quality is way better than anything you could buy in the USA. Most companies here just buy whatever blanks are cheapest, and quality is all over the place, but usually bad, as even good shirts like Hanes Beefy T's aren't as nice as they were years ago.

I've been working with a company over there for about a year now, (The Flat Head) and they bought all these old obsolete demin looms and other clothesmaking equipment from the US, and set up their own factory in Japan to make their jeans and other classic americana stuff. They gave me some flannel shirts a couple of trips back, and those are the best flannel shirts ever made, like the Platonic ideal of a flannel shirt.
