The size of the head could make it look less than incredible, but in this case it doesn't. I LOVE IT

 Re: brace yourself
I'm really not into Super Deformed and that's what this reminds me of. It also kinda looks like the suit was made for those Astro Mu figures.

 Re: brace yourself
Damn, that is pricey. This is such an excellent integration of HC influences, SB's original suits and Cure's Boogie-man design. I suppose it could be considered an extension of the oni mask concept, which itself paid homage to Dokuro King. I'd love to own one.
Interesting that they offer the suit for sale by itself. I wonder...

 Re: brace yourself
Aren't all fight figures super-deformed to a certain degree?

I guess the Skull Brain kinda has a big head - but I don't think it's anywhere close to being Super Deformed. None of the RxH figures look SD. I can't think of any fight figure that looks like it's been given the SD treatment.

I can't think of any fight figure that looks like it's been given the SD treatment. Well, aside from the RxH minis anyway. I think the full-size figures are a little different, since Mori specifically designed them to be a certain height. I wonder what inspired the Fink-Shit design, assuming that the proportions of SB and Gargamel's fight figures are derived from that 'original' fight figure. It's true that they aren't as misproportioned as the Convex stuff or other more extreme, bobble-headed examples, but the large head, stumpy legs and short torso aesthetic is pretty deeply ingrained into Japanese toy culture and design. The furthest back that I can recall seeing SD stuff was in the mid-80s when Bandai began producing Gundam models in that style. I am pretty sure that you can trace it back further than that- sometimes you can see it developing in the keshi toys from the 70s. Anyway, I think it's an interesting progression from the origins of SD to the discussion here where SD-proportioned toys are accused of resembling the KR stuff (which was spun off of the Japanese 'cute' look). Kind of a little circle.
