I'm not really into the ape body(I really like the alien monster body and love all the heads). I think it is the sculpting of the fur and overall proportions that don't work for me. I feel this way about a lot of ape figures. I think fur is just really hard to get right.

My feeling on sculpted fur is that sometimes a matte finish can make it look so much better; I think these guys are great as they are, but it would be interesting to see them w/ matte finishes, at least on the fur (in general, I'd like to see more use of both matte and gloss finishes together on individual toys).

Re: skull head butt B-movie space monsters of greatness
changed the thread title
anyone have a clue as to what the retail was on these, even if they were ungodly expensive?
id love to have one of these one day somehow- ill keep dreaming
for some reason i see a black glitter release in my head, i think it would be really cool. the sculpt is super detailed and lends itself to minimal paint applications, something i really enjoy.
i love these toys!
i also agree with not being into the ape body or ape heads ( for me) , im just not a monkey guy. give me space aliens and demons!!!

Ungodly... I think retail was somewhere in the 20,000 to 25,000 yen ballpark...

I heard the set price was around $1500- 1800 I can't remember exactly.
Also heard these are like personal figures. He made these for himself. And I don't think normal large runs are likely. More small batch releases crafted with love. A demonstration of a career of practice and a mastery of the craft.

Re: skull head butt B-movie space monsters of greatness
retail were between 10-15k-yen, with the 2 kongs on the higher price range. there was an official auction a couple of days back. i think most folks didn't realise it, so prices were high but not in the 2head, nag territories yet. I stand corrected- thanks, Mark!

To clarify, I like the gorilla BODY just not the full regular gorilla figure.

It looks like BIO-X is from I Married a Monster from Outer Space(1958).

Mmm, I kind of like those two new heads, not too sure about the new colourways though. I prefer them on dark vinyl as the first sample shots.

Re: skull head butt B-movie space monsters of greatness
I am still wondering if anyone has actually gotten any of these yet. I would love to see some better photos of the lot of them, and some other shots for size comparisons. But if there are so few of them out there, and the prices stay along these lines, even seeing a picture of them may be a pipe dream

Re: skull head butt B-movie space monsters of greatness
This is the new sofubi way. Limited release...high aftermarket price. And then another limited release...with a higher market price. Anyway as I stated before..I think these are fantastic. It is not something I'd collect or want on my shelf but I think they are pretty cool in every aspect.

Re: skull head butt B-movie space monsters of greatness
I know a few with them. The comparison shot I saw, they TALL! Like Gorilla Ju, or maybe a little bigger? Ugh. I want but won't go nuts. Tough shit right? What you gotta do is just appreciate what you have and can get without BS. It's not worth it to get all burned up about some hard to get thing. No point in negativity. I'm not saying this to anyone in particular, just something I feel is worth mentioning with the general board vibe lately. Chin up chumps

Does anyone know what movie BLOOD-X is from. Looks so familiar...I just can't put my finger on it. Maybe?

Re: skull head butt B-movie space monsters of greatness
Just took this quick (and crappy) shot to give you an idea of the scale. They aren't huge but small either, in my book just about perfect (probably Gorilla Ju is a fair comparison although I don't have one here handy to shoot, feels a bit smaller to me but could very well be the same). The colours here don't really mean that much as he's darker, more petrol green kind of tone.
