And still there are so many people who seem to turn a blind eye to the terrible practices and hang out with him...and don't get called out for it?....hmmmm...oh wait...I forgot.
It's good for their "sales".
Never mind. My bad.

I don't collect these terrible bootleg toys so it doesn't matter to me anyway. expensive hissy fits aren't on my list of interests.

Oh no I totally agree... I meant that's a bit saucy as in the way Austin Powers might say it. Now I've just got a bucket of popcorn waiting for the show to start. Love me some SB controversy

Re: Target Earth
I didn't know this eBay account belonged to Kaijumonster. Fuck that dude. I was bidding on the Splurrt Walking Cadaver(lost it by $2.50). Assuming he didn't like how "little" it went for($172.50), he retracted the bid listing and relisted it for $300 BIN. I was also shown screen caps of him flipping an MVH Winged DX from Kaiju vs Modular for $1,500, claiming it was a deal because one left Mandarake for $2,000. I'm not quite sure why artists are willing to work with this person, unless it's broadly not very well known.

Re: Target Earth
Interesting. In both KaijuMonster and Target Earth's case the excuse of "It's okay because THAT dude charged way more for it!" is made. I guess I see why the Profiteer and the Plagiarist are working together.

Re: Target Earth
I have my doubts that the plagiarist, as you call him, had much of anything to do with this particular shillfest.

No I don't think that, and I think I figured out where I was confused. I thought people were asking why anyone would work with KaijuMonster. Also, yeah copying and selling other peoples work is plagiarism by definition. Now maybe I'm attaching emotion to that assessment because I have had my own work blatantly copied and put out there (Feels bad man) but I'm just not buying the Robin Hood theory that Target Earth is stealing from the overlords to give art to the people. That's just how I personally feel and I apologize for making statements that may or may not have irritated anyone. (I just read this back and it could totally be taken as sarcasm or hostility but I honestly mean it in earnest)

Once the toy is in the handler's possession it can easily be sold for one price, and told it was sold for another to the artist. I wouldn't go so far as to say Target Earth is along for the ride.

Bids go up to about $400, then it's relisted for almost the same exact price BIN. Maybe some shill bidding going on...

Re: Target Earth
You know a guy is shady as shit when he needs all these different aliases... I've seen those Siccaluna toys go for around 2500-6000 yen on Mandarake, and he's asking for $90? No, fuck that. Also yeah, those posts were quite advertisey. Kind of like saying "hey look at these, you know where to find them, wink wink!" since there was no caption, just picture posts... And this isn't the share your collection section. Shaaaaady.

^ No caption, but they were hotlinked to his sales thread Flickr feed, where all of the juicy specifics and detailed payment instructions are tidily offered up in the description. I say 'were,' ha, as I just noticed that he edited out the click the pic to link code not twenty minutes ago! Too funny.
Martoy, if you're listening, you forgot to edit out the link on your Dump Golem billboard.

Re: Target Earth
Oh, I wouldn't say that, Glen. If someone can spend that much money on a toy, well, they can. If you want to refashion his statement a bit I think it should go a little more like, "I'm studying you guys. It's really my intention to make a healthy profit off the backs of independent toy makers by exploiting those who enjoy collecting toys."
Or something.

Re: Target Earth
Screw all toy stores, bodega's and gallery's for making a profit.. I hate those corporate bastards not contributing anything and just marking up toys they did not make..
For exclusive releases I offer 2 type of deals. Percentage of sales or payed in advance. If we decide on a percentage, we decide sales price together. If we decide on payed in advance I am free to mark how I see fit.
There are plenty of great toys available everywhere on a daily basis... If you think something I have for sale is to expensive. Do not buy it, email me for a better price or buy something else.

Re: Target Earth
So how do you explain cancelled auctions and re-listing for an inflated BIN?

Re: Target Earth
Cancelled auctions for stuff that is not for sale anymore. Relisted auctions for stuff that was not payed. Its really that simple.
Ebay sales are only fractional movement in my private collection. I can mark however I see fit. This is the endless debate where some people want me to mark stuff that dropped in value accordingly and stuff that raised in value at retail.

He asked for the size of the walking cadaver and said he did not know it was so small and asked if he could cancel.. I agreed to this and relisted at $300. If you still want it I can ship it to you for $200." This was the explanation he gave me. Bullshit or legitimate, I simply said "No thank you" and decided to buy something else.

Re: Target Earth
Okay, let's just keep this to TE discussion here shall we?
As far as posting this, for me it comes down to whether this is a sanctioned - i.e. directly collaborated - sale with Target Earth, in which case advertising and selling through flickr is a bit understandably confusing (nevermind the board connections), or whether this amounts to custom work being offered based on an individual production from TE. In the latter situation, posting this here is completely off the books and really has no association with TE other than being the maker of the original figures; in which case what we are talking about amounts to essentially a sale of customs/micro run by an artist, and should be made clear as such, and should not be posted in the TE discussion thread.
