What do you guys think about this new KFGU figure from Toki and WonderWall? Looks a bit forced in design, the tentacle arms are lacking something, is this just the nature of designer influenced monsters?

Unfortunately, I can't offer any constructive criticism on this figure.

I thought maybe it had some potential in the proto stage. But all they did was take on some generic long arms. They don't even look like part of the figure. All those arms do is make him hard to display and take up a ton of room. Also I hope that flacid gray isn't a final production color.

I don't like it. A lot of western stuff I've seen looks like "Nick Toons" characters or something. way too cartoony and/or simplistic. This kind of stuff just doesn't do it for me. Even thought it's supposed to be an original design, a lot of it still looks like they got it off of some TV show--that or made it maybe too simple as not to "overdo" it. ZZZzzzzzzz :farts:ZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzz

just my opinion.

My problem with this, and a lot of other Western stuff I see and dis like (I like some, just not most) is that it seems like it's just TRYING really hard to be weird or kooky or whatever. I mean, I guess when you think like that ALL companies "try" though. I guess what I'm trying to say is they generally feel forced, not as organic I guess as Eastern figures. I hate using the word organic too, but it's all I could think of to push my thoughts on this.

Long story short, I don't dig it. But I've seen worse.

The red eyes remind me of Gargamel Tetran.
The mouth reminds me of those recent Pumpkinmen sculpts.
The bottom white skull (or whatever it is) reminds me of a Mexican wrestler mask.
The feet look like an afterthought.
Colours are underwhelming.

As with almost all of the KFGU stuff, I might like this if I was 8 years old. It really does look like a NickToons character, but I guess it all depends on what your target market is. Tragically, however, I think that market is between 16-30 years old, which kind of makes me cringe.

Looks more Touma than Tokidoki to me, except if it were Touma's, it'd be a more cohesively finessed design. It'll probably do very well based on Tokidoki fandom and the general popularity of the KFGU with "art toy" collectors for whom kaiju is not a principle pursuit.

If this scupt had scales and forming at the mouth and GID, it might be cool. But could it be so horrible that it's almost cool?

seems a bit pete fowlerish.

however, since its Tokidoki and that guys stuff is really really popular these will sell out every release instantly...mostly to really cute girls.

which is awesome.

I mean it is HIS design for HIS sensibility for HIS fans.

Maybe if it was in a clear colour it would work better.
