Post Shintosan Production Releases
I may or may not be a little confused about exactly how many production releases of Shintosan there have been. Here's what I know, in order of release:

1) "Bronze" - Black (or in some cases green?) vinyl with bronze spray and orange eyes.

2) "Secret green" - bright green vinyl with white spray.

3) Unpainted flesh

4) Black unpainted w/yellow eyes

Number four is what's confusing me. It's been referred to as "gold mist" if I understand correctly, although it has none of the gold spray that the other RxH "gold mist" aka "gunmetal" figures have. (Or does it and I'm just not seeing it?) To make things more confusing, I could have sworn that I DID see a picture of a "gold mist Shintosan" with red eyes.

Have there actually been five (or more) production releases since May? Any corrections or elucidations appreciated.

EDIT: changed Shintosan #4 to "with yellow eyes"

That Bronze one, #1, is Gold Mist. The Black Unpainted, #4, has yellowish eyes, and is just plain black vinyl, no over coat.

So it runs like this:

1- Gold Mist (black or green vinyl overcoated with "Gold Mist" sparay and the red/dark orangeish eyes)
2-Green w/white and green eyes
3-Flesh w/yellowish eyes
4- Plain Black vinyl w/ yellowish eyes

ALSO, there was that 1 off of white w/green eyes, the very 1st glimpes we had. Don't know if we'll count that though. OH yeah and the PK 1 off too, just to be complete here.

Wasn't the white one a prototype? I know there's probably no point in quibbling over definitions, but to my mind, 1-off protos and customs aren't production releases.

As I recall, the first release wasn't called "gold mist" at the time, but is being called that in retrospect by people other than Mori. Is that correct? Even if it is "gold mist" per Mori, it is far more heavily "bronzed" than the other "gold mist" toys, and has a different eye color.

The reason I got confused about number 4 is that when I ordered it, it was being called "gold mist." I think that was just a misunderstanding, but ... you can see why I'm unclear.

Oh yeah, I mean 2 black can get confusing. I think he made it, than modeled the rest of the "Gold Mist" run after it. I've yet to see other Gold Mist RxH in hand to judge side by side, but from pics it looks pretty close.

Same with the eyes, well at least R.Ninja, Chaos and Shintos eyes. But I'm judging all on pics as of now, but I think the "GOLD MIST" Shintosan is meant to be that first one. The newer Black one is just plain ol' black with yellower eyes.

Wish we'd get some more painted ones here, as of now we really only have the Green w/ white (yes I know the Gold Mist HAS paint, but 1 coating of 1 color doesn't count to me.)

I think the white was a proto, just tossed it out there though, for the sake of it.

I don't think I would consider the white Shinto a production piece, as it has so far been only seen on Mark's webstore blog. If we're counting customs, there's also LASH's Akuma-san and the Wonderfest one-off Shinto...

I think there was a mix-up when the preorders for the Wonderfest secret Shinto were going around, such that some people believed it to be the same colorway as the other 'gold mist' figures. I've also seen the 'gold mist' set referred to as 'gunmetal' on other Japanese sites/auctions, but I don't think either is an official term.

That's interesting that the OG Shinto has a heavier bronze color than the other subsequent metallic releases.

The bronze dude has red eyes--or mine does anyway. He looks to be in the same colorway as the recent fight figure gold-mist releases. Check out Stealthtank's pic in the "what new vinyl you got this month"( --well something to that effect) thread. It can be seen with the whole gang of gold-misties

1) "gold mist" w/ red eyes
2) neon green w/ white spray
3) Flesh unpainted
4) Black unpainted or the "oh why did I pull the trigger on this one?" version.

OK, coolness. I had a suspicion that maybe Mori "refined" the first Shinto colorway for the gold mist series.

Photos I've seen of the first release sometimes make it look more black than the one I just received does. Mine is very bronze ... no chance of it appearing black, even in a poorly lit photo.

I totally agree that more paint would be nice. The figure is so complex yet not much has been done with it. I love the "pop" of the bright green and the way that the gold mist shows off detail, but I think a lot more could be brought out of this figure with some creative paint jobs, as PK's amazing custom demonstrated. Thanks for the help Blood.

Oh, I don't count the White as production, I just mentioned it for the hell of it. Same with the one offs, btu I guess since this thread is "production" Shintos, it's my bad.

Anyway, yeah, thems the 4. Fun sculpt, just want more interesting colorways myself. Bruise?

Interesting ... mine are orange! I'm going to triple-check tonight, and may take some photos to post here.

Bruised Shintosan would be excellent! I'm hoping for an S7 orange/black/gold at some point too. Maybe a GID would be fun as well.

Cool !!There are only four and i just ordered two of em. It seems tho that there may be eye color variants? Anyway a Bruised Shintosan would be kickin! Bring on the Shintos!

I just want more dark clear blue vinyl! Plus those metallics really made the Bruise, I'd reallyu like to see 1 or 2 others. Maybe not a full set like the Gold Mist, but I think a big clear Shinto would be cool. Maybe clear pink like the Booska Mutant or something. Something of that size would just really look great with metallics and clears.

An S7 colorway Shinto would be awesome- sort of recreate that 'burning' effect from Street Fighter and Dragonball. Although it might clash with the other S7 figures, it would be cool to see a transparent orange fade from the head down (to painted feet, i.e., reverse of the Jyarinko Ohgan Bat).

Heck I'd settle for finding a Bruised Chaos. Seriously missed the boat on that one. Someday...

Oh yeah! Love those fade-to-clear effects. As for clashing, I dunno. The Akro and Bat had gold touches that I don't think the prior S7 releases had.

So many possibilities...

I don't think anyone mentioned that the original bronze Shintosan production had some with green base vinyl and some were black base. There's also some LASH customs and another PK one which should be done soon :D

I've been searching for the green guy for awhile but no luck. There were a few around but they all dried up.

Well, there's a green one on evilbay, but you probably knew that. That seller appears to be holding out for the time when his too-high BIN asking price is no longer considered too high, or when some "gotta have it!" buyer comes along. In the meantime he keeps re-listing it without lowering the price. Good luck to you decypher. It is one of the best.

I'd LOVE to see this guy in a very, very, pale blue vinyl with dark eyes and dark-grey, and white-foam spray, with japanese caligraphy down the back--kind of hokusai "the wave" style. oh my goodness, I'd shit my pants.

I still think the eyes match the others, from that pic the paint on the Evils eyes seem to match Shintos totally. I think maybe "burnt red" is a better description for the entire "Gold Mist" sets eyes?

bronze, gold mist, gunmetal or whatever you call it are all the same thing. It really depends on who you are talking to. When I last talked to Mori, he called it gold mist, so that is what I am sticking to.

Also, with the black unpainteds, in figures like the chaos, there are two release unpainted black versions -black vinyl, and black "pearl" vinyl. The "pearl" vinyls have a slight glittery flake to the vinyl, but it is subtle. The red Pop Soda and Red Chaos were "pearl". I think the Shintosan is black vinyl and not pearl.

Well then that's a "bingo" IMHO.
