 Secret Base Fresh Meat Questions
What's a Secreter? How do they differ from ordinary Skullbrains? I'm guessing the higher prices they command means they were released in fewer numbers than other SB figs.

Have you ever thought about purchasing some back issues of S7 magazine? Especially, issue #9...

You knows it . . .
Regarding Secreters . . They are awesome lil' Brains with metallic paint, coloured clear arms, pipe cleaner inserts, multicolour gloves, sublime spray brains and a couple of 'em come in classic 'Pringle' can packaging. They are also sought after and desirable as they form part of a cohesive 'set' although it appears a few were more limited than others and the über limited Employee Secreter was a giveaway item that you'll have to pimp out granny to get.
The SDCC '07 Secreter was a nice addition to the family a few weeks back and well worth a looksee to check out the detailing!

Couldn't have said it better myself Andy!
This is THE classic SecretBase set - and some of the best (IMO) colorways ever to be released. .... and as I recall, a tribute to the classic Astro-Mu vinyls of yesteryear (vntage experts please add details here). Add to that the unique packaging, the odd ultra-rare guy (The frustration and fun of teh chase), and the fact that out of the blue a new Secreter will show up from time to time (like 18 months apart) and you have the classic SkullBrain set. The set I think appeals to way more people than just the Hardcore SB collector! Seek it out - it's RAD!!!

They are called Secreters because they will secretly fight your dog while he sleeps.

Is it me or do the older brains have more about 'em . . . I dunno whether it's colour diversity, finish variation or just sentimenlity but the newer brains (SDCC Secreter excepted) seem to be lacking in comparison.
The Cocky is just so 'out there' and random I can't think how it'll ever be topped!

I count 7. 2nd row is all secretors, right ? ocean is missing his brain on the end.
These are awesome 'cause they are matte finish(mostly), have great inserts and the paint on the brain is amazing.
A few months ago Frank was discussing how the new SB figs are slick finish (non-matte) because the molds were getting old and that was the natural progression. I think these brains QC was amazing compaired to the sloppy linework and sub-par paint apps on the new stuff.

Bottom row, far right in the last photo. It has a red head with green and blue spray.

Yes and no. The new Secreter and the Skulletor set are really awesome. And there was a lot of crappy releases earlier in the series - all those Atmos 'Brains. All the red/black/white 'Brains. All the black/white/grey 'Brains. And I don't think Sly & Robbie would go over so well if it was released tomorrow - but because it was released earlier in the series I think it was a minor hit.
There aren't a ton of 'Brains that I love - but the majority of them are from earlier in the series.

same thoughts here -
not feeling any of the newer sb figs,
not only colours but dont like their new pop style at all
but sdcc brain - love on first sight. ...rocks!
really nice - been bidding on it too.
hoping for more like this to come...

Uh oh...
I don't know how much it would cost to get them, but the harder thing will be to FIND all of them. The Employee Secreter is by far the most difficult to find. Probably took me around 9 months to find mine.
