I like it better with some different paint, but the teeth are a little too cartoonish for me.

Yeah, I agree. I like it KINDA better, but those teeth and mostly the pupil hold it back, I liked 1 big empty eye more. What color vinyl is it, black?

I really dig the sculpt but am a bit bummed to see the first colorway look like this. The figure has such a menacing look to it that this just takes the fire right out of it... Maybe some clear pictures will change my mind but I was hoping for more pinache from the first colored release.

I'm thinking this was probably the test paint and that the colors will be a little more vibrant when we see more. The colors are gold and metallic blue paint, so I imagine there will be more shine to it.
It's nice to see Mori coming up with the new characters though.
I'm trying to think of what this colorway looks like and how to describe it, and all I'm coming up with is it resembling Batman comics from the late 70s and early 80s when they used the blue and black shadowing...does that make sense?

It's growing on me. The face reminds me of the statues of various deities at Japanese temples- especially the 'looking-down' eye.

I think a light grey with white on the stomach would look really nice with this character. I also think that maybe having some smal beedy eyes could be a cool approach, just not feeling the big eye balls.
It would however be interesting to see if Mori keeps with this theme and makes the other characters into cartoonish looking figures... then maybe I would be more intrigued. Could you just see a real goofy looking Evil with big eyeballs and super gleaming white teeth?

Wouldn't be so goofy if it wassn't for the pupil though, to me at least. I think a cat shaped eye would be cool, but again I think NOTHING but solid color would be best, like the Gold Mist version.

Probably the Sofubi Monsters event at the end of this month.
Mori should do variants of this guy with the pupil going in different directions.

I really like the first version, but wouldn't get it because there's hardly any paint to it (though I do dig the red, no-pupil eye). I was waiting to see the first full paint version and I'm not sure what to think of it just yet.

I'd need to see a better photo (or see it in real life) but for now, neither colourway (or the sculpt) is doing much for me.
I gotta draw the line somewhere as there's too much exciting stuff out there.

i agree with you.
i probably won't own one of these. the sculpt is ok, but like you said there is so much other stuff worth picking up too!

I aint keen on this one- the gold mist kills it with the menacing red eye. This dude looks like he has been hitting the pipe too hard.

Yeah the eye and mouth are killing it... in a bad way...
I have a great idea for one , but will keep that in my hat
I think this figure can be a pretty killer figure and these colors are great. BUT the baby monkey eye and the chicklet looking teeth... ruined ....
