 SB shoes?
I have a little question I'm hoping the sages can answer.
I am not really schooled in the collector shoe market, so forgive this inquiry, but do the Nike SB shoes as shown on the back of the March issue of Juxtapoz have anything to do with Secret Base? They are red, black, & white like the recent Ghost Fighter and Skull Brain... seems like they would make a good colour coordination, if you were looking to match your footwear to your toys. ^_^
VGA showed a little pic about some SB shoes, but can anyone direct me to some info on what shoes SB has had a hand in?
Thanks...

I haven't seen the ad and I'm not really into shoes but I'd assume the shoes you are reffering to are some colorway of the SB Dunks, Nike Skateboard shoes, not affiliated with Secret Base.

Thanks, Count. I see now...
They are pretty neat, tho.
Also in that Juxtapoz are some Vans hi-tops with a groovy skull print. May have to go looking for that one...
Those green shoes are cool, Loco! Who does them, part of the same line?
And is it true that Nike lets you make custom colourways that you can buy?
I personally wouldn't mine something like those green ones, but with some purple stripes.
Why? Devastator fan and a follower of the Joker school of fashion. ^_^

I just picked up some pretty cool shoes from a store on Hollywood Blvd on my trip to Santa Monica for Huck Gees show. They were made by Don.Ed Hardy. http://www.edhardyshop.com/showCategory ... goryid=121 I dont know much about the guy but the shoes are sweet. They are lace up slip ons Chuck Taylor style with the tounge sewn into the lace holes. The designs on the sides are Japan style tatoos with a geisha face on one side and a geisha skull on the other. Dont know if that is what you are looking for but I dig em'!

Don Ed Hardy is a legendary tattoo artist, I'd imagine the design on the shoe was some of his tattoo flash.

SB from Nike stands for Skate Board. There's a whole line of Nike shoes dedicated to just that division. The Dunks, the deltaforce, the classics, the FCs, treo, and so forth. They have limited editions come out in the SB line which creates a collecting frenzy from the sneaker heads. The SB is usually the most sought after because of the limited runs and special editions. I don't know which shoes Secret Base had a hand in but I did just purchase a limited edition SB Dunk that Pushead put out a couple of months ago. Really sweet looking shoes with his artwork all over the box. Some SB Dunks are going for some coin on ebay these days and can fetch up to $1,000 depending on which limited edition and condition of the shoe. It seems like the subcultures of shoes and toys are very well interconnected somehow. Check out a site called Hypebeast.com that always has the 411 on limited sneaks, art, toys or whatever. Hope this helps.

Ed Hardy (the brand) is the new Von Dutch (the brand) .... lots of trendy people who were wearing Von Dutch last year are wearing Ed Hardy this year. I especially dug the punk's not dead theme on extremely over-priced hats when I walked past the store on Melrose a couple of weekends ago with my dogs ( 4 legged kind, not the gangsta kind).
Punk is most definitely dead on Melrose.
PS. Decided to post part of my SB collection as I photgraphed it for KR's Mc Mullen contest....sadly http://www.skullbrain.org/bb/viewtopic.php?t=1608

from my understanding however.. ed is doing the stuff
where as von dutch had no association (or rights) whatso ever to the name and images it stole and used to promote a brand based off the name of a legendary, but angry bitter semi evil man

Amen to that, except for Headline Records, still the lone hold out, unless you count the crusties asking for change.

Headline also have/had cool Pushead limited decks. I picked up a Conspiracy one from them last year. Dangerously close to Brooklyn Projects - LEAST punk rock skate store on the planet!

audio, I like that last line, makes me want to adjust DiamaondHead's NWOBHM classic and sing: "Am I semi-evil, yes I am, am I semi-evil, I am I am"

I'm not sure who that is. My experiences at BP have always been negative, and I'm a nice customer (I think). I was offered a chance to pay $50 to go to the head of the line for $300 Dunkles a couple of years ago, and a couple of weeks ago I called to see if they had Hawaiis and I was told yes, but "we don't give prices over the phone" - what BS. All skate stores will tell u the price - Supreme, Union, Active, Val Surf etc.... Its the closest skate store to me (walking distance), and because of this I never shop there.
One positive thing: I got talking to an older dreaded up guy in there one day, and he seemed pretty cool. Knew all about Pushead, Septic Death etc......
