japanese toys that hold their value- top 5?
Just curious for shits an giggles, what toys would SB's say hold their value the most? Or are the most sought after? Strictly newer stuff. Most vintage trumps the new stuff in value I know.
I ask because I see an awful lot of sales here where it seems things that were really hot a month or two ago going cheap, or even half price at times. I know that's the nature of the beast, but I would like opinions. This isn't a probe to find out what to collect either. I like what I like and I'm sure most people here collect what they want as well. At least I hope they do...
I'd say the top 5 most sought after (and remain consistently high) just from being on this forum are:
1) Goga 2) All other Anraku 3) Mother/Maza 4) HP Bemons 5) Target Earth Gamerudon and Gebora

Factory Bemons tend to do alright as well.

I stuff all of my toys with cash to make them valuable. mini's aren't worth jack.

Re: toys that hold their value- top 5?
I should qualify my original question. I meant japanese (new) toys strictly. Also my top 5 isn't necessarily my favorites either. Just from what I noticed here. I'd say Zags and Factory Bemons are definitely up there also, maybe the list should go top 10?

The only people who really care are speculators and flippers.

How else are we supposed to know what to buy and collect?

While there is a lot of inexpensive easy to find M1号 out there, it seems like event or limited release M1号 figs tend to stick at least at retail and often appreciate on the aftermarket for the most part.

Some other thoughts:
Do alot of people really collect what they enjoy? Or are they simply following the current flavor cause they really don't know what they like or what works?
And what is the perceived value of a toy? Is it purely a monetary value or is it something more? I have some handpainted Bemons and Anraku that I would dump before letting go of some $60 toys that aren't on this list...

I've got some Ghost Fighters, Skull Captains, and Chaos to trade for your Bemons! I think pretty much the only things that have retained high secondary value, and will for the foreseeable future, are Bemon and the older Anraku. And I think eventually these will become fairly worthless (10+ years from now). Zollmen is currently flavor of the month...or year. But remember Secret Base and RxH when they were the flavor of the year? Zollmen hype will die and the prices will drop..."even" on the Maza. I think the original Exohead MMs have come down in price recently - not enough to where I can afford them yet, but I saw a few that I was tempted by.

But I don't have one toy on there, mainly because I can't afford to plop that much cash down on a single toy, not because I hate them. But I have some toys I'd never part with, and with the current market, I'd be lucky to get 30 bucks for them if I did.

Re: japanese toys that hold their value- top 5?
I think in the end, most of the shit we collect won't be worth dick in a few years. besides us, who cares? Everyone only cares about what they collect and that crap changes with the weather. I just try to build a little collection that I'll be happy with 10yrs from now when I might be far removed from the scene and out of the loop, and possibly not collecting.
