Whoa! King Waldar's brain seems to be a bit baggy...sagging down over his teeth!
Just a bit of morning brain, I think.
The KW brain and Plant Man brain were inspired by these designs (although these are the new minis produced by Charactics).
The original toys were the 12-inch King Walder I body, and a costume designed for a clear green version of the KW I body, which was Plant Man (i.e., "Shokubutsu Kaijin" in Japanese). These were produced by Takara in the 1970s under the Henshin Cyborg line of toys in Japan.
Takara released repros of some of these toys in the late 90s, and
this page has a good overview of these. Super7 magazine, issue 11, has an excellent article on the various vintage Walder alien toys from Japan and the UK.
Btw, the Akuda vs. Waruda vs. Walder vs. Waldar spellings of the name are just various iterations on the romanized words. I think Akuda is actually a mistranslation, however.
