Hadn't seen that secret...that thing is SICK.

I managed to snag one of the orange GID ones from Mandarake last month, but I haven't coughed up the change for a purple Osaka version yet. Besides, the way I see it I've already got two purple Galtans (Ichibanboshi SuperFest and store versions) and three GIDs, so what's the rush?

i got both the purple and the orange but missed out on the secret, damn! oh well, i'm not gonna complain casue i just scored both dokugans from tokyocube! i'm happy!

I think they're starting to get ridiculous with this Galtan to be honest. What is this the 9th version in the last 6 months?

If you're trying to go complete, it would be almost impossible (because of the secrets, especially). But if you look at it more as a Galtan Buffet where you can just pick and choose the ones you want its not so bad!

I was complete on them for a while, but I have missed the last five or so releases.

the monstock secret ver seems considerably fewer compared to standard galtan releases that are usually a run of 30.
the recent mandarakes were 24 each.
i have a feeling we may not be seeing the galtans that regularly after this monstock release.

why is it that all the secret versions of things kick so much ass? i mean, it's hard enough to score the regular versions sometimes...i really dig that shade of green..

true. The secret versions look really good. Hopefully we can see more mini galtans in the future. I'm actually kind of glad those haven't been coming out non stop and have slowed a bit.

Just out of curiosity, when/where does one (in the US) go about purchasing these things when they're released? I'm not a YJA guy (yet, ho ho) and I don't recall seeing anything on the Exhohead site that looks like a 'buy' option...

Super 7 got some of the Ichibanboshi ones that came out in June, but generally unless you hit up a flipper site or YJA you really can't buy most of them. The Mandarake ones, for example, just sold at the stores on the day. You line up, pull a ticket and take your chances.

Really appreciate the ample (although bleak) info. The Ichibanboshi is the clear purple with the silver spray on the inside of the skull, right? I have that one, and it rules forever, but I'm definitely looking to get him some friends.

I think the problem with some of this harder to get stuff--without even MENTIONING the price--is that it tries to force you to choose between doing your job/loving your wife/feeding your dogs and chasing Galtan. At least if you live in the states.

Oh well. I'll live. Or wait for something to pop up on the Sale boards.

Yes, Galtans--while maybe overly release lately--are somewhat unattainable. Boo.

actually, on the contrary, i think its one of the best times if you are galtan collector.
along with most other new kaiju these days, prices are much more realistic these days, often just slightly above japanese retail.

I'm with Joe. I snagged the first Ichibanboshi (opaque purple) and the Jyarinco version off YJA a month or so back for around 9,500 a piece, which is about half what they were going for six months or so back.

One thing that bums me out about Galtans is that, unlike some other lines, it seems like they change hands very often and a lot of them are never taken out of their bag. That leads me to think that a lot of the people buying them (considering there are only about 30 of each version in any event) are just planning on flipping them at some point. That's a shame, because they have some of the nicest, most nuanced paint jobs of any production figures I've seen recently and a great sculpt.
