That tail / body gap looks like total shit. like pickle said, it's a sculpt and the tail is obviously similar to the current goga in that it can detach. marusan/bullmark style. looks like he's creating variations on it which i think is fucking cool as hell.

Re: a goga for the future
From what I can discern, this is called the First Gen. Gogamezilla (monochrome anime ver.). I think this is a reference to the flash animations on the website- maybe?
Says something about a transformation (?) into Giga Salamander. Not sure what that is, or what it may entail. Maybe a head swap?
Also mentions below a forthcoming new ST size figure (could be the one tagged as "Rashomon no Oni" on the sofubi list, which currently has no attached image) as well as a character named "Sirius," noted as Cambodia no. 2.
I wouldn't mind having one of the new Goga sculpts. It loses a little of the giant-headed charm of the old version, but gains the semi-realism found in the old Marusan and Bullmark toys (as atease notes). I could definitely see this as some obscure patchi-kaiju toy.

Gone with the over sized head. I wonder if this Goga will conjure up the same amount of interest as its original sculpt.

I don't know if I like it, I realize it's rough...kinda looks like Godzilla mated with Pegila.

Re: a goga for the future
I'll be straight up, I don't like it as much as the original Goga, it lacks the cartoonish nature that I love about the first. BUT I don't think it's fair for me to judge it that way vs. on it's own merit. I'd have to see a finished product to reeeaally say how I feel. So, officially, all I can say is I'm intrigued and interested. There's not 1 sculpt Anraku has that I dislike in the least so I'm a little hopeful.
I really respect the idea, though. The "I'm going to take a step back and work it in another style" type thinking is very cool. Also, off topic, a Mecha-Goga would be cool ("future goga" made me think of that.)

Re: a goga for the future
it is a mecha... but i think in the animation he was going to be set off to fight against goga. i dont think the animation of what happened next was ever put up on the site

Re: a goga for the future
i had the impression that was the mecha goga myself.
i would have to go back and watch the animation again, but i recall him being in some kind of complex and launching out. this would be a dream figure for me, as well as that weird guy with the trapezoid-ish mouth

Re: a goga for the future
The new Goga will be sculpted in the old school style as Marusan/ Bullmark figures These will be cool, can't wait to see the color scheme on this one.

Only time will tell, though.

Re: a goga for the future
This new sculpt is to Goga, what this maquette sculpt was to the original Gojira.(pic from CT) It's supposed to represent an early Goga concept and a more traditional Kaiju representation of the character.

Re: a goga for the future
I'm also a bit disappointed with this - doesn't mean I won't get one since everything Anraku does is stellar - but I was hoping for a new colorway of the old sculpt since the OG gogas are out of reach.
But it's the paint and quality of the vinyl that really makes many of the Anraku figures work so I'll reserve final judgment until this one is done.

Re: a goga for the future
I don't know guys. to me the sculpt is the heart of the toy. I'd rather have an unpainted toy that has been sculpted to near perfection, then have a nicely painted toy where I feel the sculpt was cut short or i'm just not into it. I like Anraku and hope I could one day score one, this is their first figure I've looked at and not liked.
