Robby the Space Fireman by Itokin Park
This is the debut release of the figure, which will go on sale tomorrow. I think it turned out awesome. Red Robby is a Kaiju Korner exclusive for international sales outside of Taiwan. (Limited to 25 pieces for international sales and 25 pieces for sales in Taiwan.)

IP usually just isn't my thing, but I really like this little guy and his water gun.

Re: Robby the Space Fireman by Itokin Park
I don't get it - Itokin just looks like some Thomas the Train type of kids shit - I could easily see this in a 2 year olds toy chest, or in the infant isle of Target for $8.99. I like toys that harken back to childhood - not THAT far back though, and not toys that today's toddlers will reminisce about in 20+ years. It really seems like he should market this to toddlers (or parents of toddlers) and make big money. He could probably have cartoons created out of his characters and everything...just seems like he's wasting a talent on the wrong demographic.

I really like some of Itokins characters, but this looks like a fisher price toy.

Re: Robby the Space Fireman by Itokin Park
To each one's own. I know this type of toy doesn't fall under the purview of some collectors here, which is why I debated posting the info. But I've been pleasantly surprised to find there are quite a few IP fans here.
Glad to hook you guys up with IP's newest figure!
BTW, I don't think I've posted this info here yet, but the next issue of Clutter (#15) will feature an Itokin Park article, interview, and photo gallery. I wrote the article and conducted the interview, with translation help and photo contributions from several fans and Kazu. Due out in August.

Re: Robby the Space Fireman by Itokin Park
Oh, I know there's quite a few people that like IP on these boards - I'm not saying you shouldn't post it here. I'm not trying to hate on IP - I'm just very surprised that he's found an audience in both "urban" and "kaiju" collectors. Obviously he does well (though again, I don't know why) - I just think he could do a lot better by marketing to a different demographic. Great designs for kids toys!

I think they would be a hit. they do look like toddler toys, and with the exception of the rainbow glisten, rainy blue himalan, and the handpainted one-offs, the soft vinyl doesn't lend itself much to the colorways. Not a dis, just making an observation. I think if he released more production colorways like some of his one off ideas, then the toys would make more sense to me.

Re: Robby the Space Fireman by Itokin Park
These Itokin toys are a great riff on old stuff from the past. I love seeing the different directions being taken in the toy world. I like these the same as I do the Yaya cats and even Brian Flynns Ghostland characters (even though theyare all completely different worlds). Yeah they are simplified and they look like little kids toys, but thats the point.
NT I think he would do well selling these to kids and who knows maybe in the future we will see that with cartoons and all...ala horvath but right now I think they are more a nod/reference to past styles..atleast with what he has released so far.
..dont like that porcupine thing though..

Re: Robby the Space Fireman by Itokin Park
I'm not sure exactly why there are quite a number of Sb'ers who are into IP works but I buy some of his works mainly for its clean, simplified designs. Basic as it can be compared to children's toys but something in its shape or color choices that I appreciate. I don't intend to buy a lot of Itokins but I certainly would like to keep some. I'm into this Space Fireman mainly because my 5 year old boy loves firemen-themed toys. And love me some space-themed toys too, so....

Exactly, I think that "original innocence" is the vibe Itokin Park is going for. There are a few other artists, like Amanda Vissel, whose work also has a kind of storybook quality.

I really dig Robby. I was quite pleased with how well this sculpt turned out. Very reminiscent of Rabyuun which is another one of my faves from Kazu.

I think in the coming months we'll be seeing more toys that fit into the IP family. It's kind of overwhelming how popular Robby is. Sorry the run total was so low and I couldn't hook up more fans. The good news is Kuso will surely release more versions of Robby down the line.
