 New Hukkokudo?-new set!
Saw this on the Hukkokudo blog: Space Dinosaur No.1 & No.2 (Sutegora known, Shamonga, things are referred to the mania) Set of two colors was 15000 yen price (shipping and tax included) (Monster No. 1 No. 2 No. 3 followed, and quadrupedal walking monster types) no pics but I'm really curious which monsters these exactly are? Seems like they'd be the Tetran and Beralgon, but who is Monster 1,2,and 3? Also saw this: Notification of this site will be the last. Since this mail order, direct mail (News of the letter by mail) and only, the site will be closed. Which I think pretty much means Hukkokudo is shutting down their website. Are they going the way of Pilot Ace and Charactics?

 Re: new Hukkokudo?
SHAMON!
Oh wow, I think these are the two 4-legged Stegosaur-type guys from Miura Toy. Stegora and Shamonga appear to be the popular names for them. I told myself no more Hukko toys, but I'm pretty floored that they would go the extra mile and finish up the set.
They can't stop... They haven't touched the Miura Toy minis yet.

Somehow I knew the first response to this thread would be Daniel. Thanks Daniel! Do you have a pic of what these guys look like?

 Re: new Hukkokudo?
Am I correct in understanding that these are being sold blind and if you're not happy can then request a refund?

 Re: new Hukkokudo?
Real basic, probably stupid question here. Is Hukkokudo using the original '70s molds? Their toys seem to be such perfect repros, it's hard to imagine that someone re-created the originals from scratch, but I never knew if that question was resolved or not. Anyone know?

From what I know or have heard about the IKB repros (smog/hedo) they ARE the OG molds (cracking too, another topic covered that though if you search.) These are great. I wish Hukkokudo did more experimenting on other sculpts, they go NUTS on Smogun and standing Hedoro, but kind of limit all the others. I'd kill to see some interesting takes on their other figures.

Dean, I'm glad you asked because at the risk of appearing like a bone head was just going to do the same. These new figures especially look like exact repros. Probably not, but to my untrained eye they do appear so.

 Re: new Hukkokudo?
Yeah, I'm also assuming they have the old IKB molds. I actually did try searching for that old thread ... it was great ... but for some reason I couldn't find it. In fact search term "IKB" yielded nothing.

 Re: new Hukkokudo?
Joe, does your question mean that you have IKB originals to compare with? Good question. The difference could be an indication that they aren't the same, but just how different are they in size? I ask because, for example, not all of my RxH Chaoses are the exact same size. In fact it's sort of surprising how much shorter some are than others, which I (without really knowing) attribute to some sort of shrinkage, post-pull? Totally guessing here, I admit...

Wish I had the connections/money/time to get some of the originals, so I wouldn't know. Hhhhhrrmmmmmm more info, anyone? PK maybe?

 Re: new Hukkokudo?
I can't find the thread but there was discussion about this a while ago.
I have IKB and Hukkokudo Hedoras. I don't have them in front of me but from what I remember, I really couldn't tell the difference between the two except for the paint and smell. The IKB is a little smaller but not really noticeable. Maybe cause of vinyl aging? Both have IKB stamps on the feet.

Couldn't remember where I got what I know from. But I guess I might be wrong considering you've got both to compare to.

 Re: new Hukkokudo?
Search function seems flawed as there are obviously posts with IKB but when I search for IKB it pulls up nothing.

Hard to say but by comparing these it really does look like they've got the OG molds.

 Re: new Hukkokudo?
I had heard they were from the originals.. but.. I recently got a number of toys pulled from original vintage molds. There is so much (amaizing!) crud and deterioration on the molds. The Hukkokudo versions seem really smooth and flawless comparatively.

 Re: new Hukkokudo?
Big thanks Lixx! The second link is to the thread I was thinking of, but the first is helpful too. More info in there than I remembered (e.g. Koji's confirmation that Hukkokudo = Marmit.) Too bad Purple Walrus' photo of Mr. Chapin no longer appears. That was a classic.
