 Re: Marusan exhibit in Tokyo
Awesome catch man! Why this stuff is not a permanent exhibit somewhere is beyond me. And I'm like the johnny-come-lately with this anyway.. The Garamons are stunning! The Cadillac and motorcycle toys from the '50s, wow! And the vintage vinyl made me lose my shit.. especially this: Thanks again Andy!

Awesome exhibit and report, Andy. Thanks for posting!
What's that clear blue Tokyo Tower thing? Is it glass, vinyl and is it a release? (I actually like to collect Tokyo Towers to mix in with the kaiju).

Such a shame they weren't popular--they were fucking great. Barely discussed here... Anyway, I finally got a chance to read your report, Andy. Great stuff, man! Thanks! Would you happen to know if there's a way to buy Kaminaga-san's photography book online?? That shit's pretty gorgeous! Reminiscent of the Outer Space Men card photography...

I actually looked into that and found an Ebay auction under "Ultra P book" or something similar. But then I told a dude on Twitter, and he bought it. Here's the ISBN, which might be of some help: 7952-3961-4 Edit: I just ran a search for "ウルトラ p" on Amazon Japan and found a page for the book: http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E3%82%A6%E3%83 ... 672&sr=8-1Doesn't look like it's available, but there are 7 used copies from various sellers: http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/offer-listin ... ition=usedLooks like it may be OOP at this point, so tracking down a used copy may be the way to go.

Maybe there were two books from different sellers, I dunno. About 5 mins after I tweeted, a dude in AUS told me he bought it. Anyway, good score both of ya'll! BTW, after the event, the Marusan gods looked favorably on me. I picked up this awesome crystal Girara at a shop.

 Re: Marusan exhibit in Tokyo
Almost forgot to mention...big up to Kaos: I scored Kaminaga-san's book from Mandarake thanks to his link. It's a slim softcover, but quite gorgeous. And even though it's only about 50 prints, it's not *that* pricey (it was around 3k shipped). The pics are totally worth it...and surprisingly, they feature all sorts of vintage toys (not just Marusan ones).

 Re: Marusan exhibit in Tokyo
That diorama was the thing that grabbed my attention too. The smaller buildings were candytoys, pretty sure, but I dunno where the larger ones came from. Wish I did. I guess "Tederos" was Marusan's version of "Astro Mu"? Video is still up on YouTube, here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3QUUkdDo84Lol at the obvious references to Godzilla, Tetsujin, Thunderbirds et al. From Collection DX: "The designs in TEDEROS are an original Marusan creation, but they have gone to great lengths to provide back story for the characters. Marusan has made comics and videos that tell the story of TEDEROS." I have this large version of Alien Fran: My only problem with it is that it's made in China. I had no idea about all those other toys in the series tho. Anyway, before he complains, here's Roger's original thread (from 2006 yo! ): http://www.skullbrain.org/bb/viewtopic. ... 1838dbb141
