Post DZ40 Mazinger Classic Ver. 2 PRE-ORDER
(If this is in the wrong section please move it, thanks!)

So I heard from 666doll (John) that these are being offered to him as well via Medicom.

Image

He needs a minimum order of 6, so I am looking for people to jump on this with me.

Here is what he tells me:

666doll wrote:
I'm hoping to keep these around the $100 mark, shipped to anywhere in the ConUS. That's my intention at least. The only thing that screws this up is that Medicom only ships using Global EMS (expensive) and when we get billed, what the Yen vs. USD$ is at.

I ask for a 50% deposit (non-refundable unless we can't follow through), balance due when figures are in-hand and ready to ship. Pretty simple

Easy-Peasy and if you are a poor student (like me!), it is perfect since you can pay half now and the rest when in hand.

Deadlines follow similarly as with the DM bogs.

Any questions, let 666doll know and please show your interest here! Thanks!

PS Its a bearmodel sculpt ;D

Did the first one have the Jet Scrander? I'm in if this does come with it.

I'm glad they are doing this, I missed the 1st one and I won't pay the ¥20,000 Mandarake price. And today is the last day for Doublas M2 and Silene pre-orders if you guys are able to get them in! :)

So tempting. The only thing I don't like is the leg/groin connection. What is the cut-off to decide?

Post Re: DZ40 Mazinger Classic Ver. 2 PRE-ORDER
Hello All -

Looks like these aren't being made available until November. Pre-orders end technically at the end of September, so there's plenty of time. However, I try to get my orders into Medicom early as to not miss the boat. They can be odd and difficult to navigate at times and that can obviously pose problems. As Gatiio pointed out initially in the thread, I require a 50% deposit to secure the figure. This is non-refundable unless I can't come through. The total price as of now is $100 shipped in the ConUS, but this is completely contingent upon the final Yen vs. USD$ and the EMS cost since that's the only way Medicom ships to the West. Those who have done pre-orders with me in the past know that I stick to my initial quotes, ship promptly, provide details and updates. I don't do these to make money. That being said, shoot me over a PM for all the rest of the details and we'll go from there.

Thanks Gatiio and all!

Sorry to be a Fresh Meat, but I'm soooo confused. What's the difference between the one on Mandarake and this one?

Ha! But seriously, is it just being re-released? Why do some people have it already yet there's this preorder for months away?

First release Mazinger Z w/Scander

2nd release Mazinger Z w/Scander
Image
http://www.medicomtoy.co.jp/prod/dt/16/84/7970.html

The first release, the lower arms/legs were done in a lighter, metallic blue, reds were also metallic and a bit darker. Though the prototype of the 1st release shows what appears to be black detailing on the mouthpiece, I believe this is not present on the official release.

The colors on this new release are much more traditional, so those who missed out on the first release are in luck for a chance to get this edition at retail.

Yup, I agree with you totally.

The 1st one didnt really convince me because the lines are not as crisp and I dont like metallic colors.

Also, for those of us interested, I had some questions for John in regards of payment, could I just send the deposit whenever? here's what he replied.

666doll wrote:
Yes and no... Minimums are set at 6. That means if I get 7 pre-orders in, then the 7th person is gonna get dumped because Medicom won't allow me to order 7. They come in batches of 6. Follow me? I don't want people to delay and then not have the opportunity to acquire one is all. I will only guarantee figures to those that pre-pay the deposit as I don't wanna put someone down on the list only to have them flake and me get stuck with an extra figure. Can't afford it since I make pretty much nothing off these.

Which is what happened last time some of us flaked on some of the Devilmans and others couldn't get their orders in.

So, I think it would be best to just send the deposit to 666doll and put our names down on a list and hopefully we all get an idea of how the preorder stands.

Thanks for explaining things guys!
Dang, I kinda like the original metallic one. Ive been trying to collect metalic vinyl bots, among my other stuff. Sucks the first one costs so much. Hmmm...gotta figure out what to do now. :?

Post Re: DZ40 Mazinger Classic Ver. 2 PRE-ORDER
If any orders end up outside the set increment(s) of six, orders can be placed directly through Medicom up to September 30th @ ¥10,580 (est. $105.00 USD at the current exchange rate) shipped to the U.S. Buyers have until October 8th to settle the payment.

Details here: http://www.bearbrick.com/dz40130624_o/

Though it's nice for John to offer an alternative with an accompanied payment plan for those who deem it necessary, I appreciate when they do the same for products not typically offered overseas otherwise (e.g. Devilman anniversary RxH figures). It would be nice to have access to the Kamen Rider/Kikaider retro series villains without having to go through my broker. :P

This isn't a complaint towards you John, from the sound of it, it seems Medicom is the one contacting you. I'm just curious how they choose or determine what is offered overseas. Is it due to licensing agreements?

^^^^

No offense taken at all. It's all about licensing from what I've been told. It can also have to do with artists and manufacturers simply requesting items not be sold to/in the West.

Update - I have two pre-orders paid thus far. 4 more spots open until we meet the minimum. I will be emailing Medicom this week and inquiring about their minimums in hopes that after I place the initial six that anything above that can be met as well. In other words, we won't have to do them in sets of six so that more of you can get one of these. Hopefully that will alleviate any stress having to buy directly from Medicom and the problems it seems to pose ,many on these here board.
