Ok, so this is insanely awsome... Gargamel has made a toy in my honor!!

Let me explain... i'm a big Gargamel fan. Their first year at SDCC was also the first year i attended. And i would never have guessed that i would later become friends with them. When i couldn't make it to SDCC in 2010... koji, naoya and kiyoka brought comicon to me in the form of sofubi care-packages, which says all you need to know about those guys.

Now, after 4 years of battling a rare form of cancer (sarcoma), I look a lot like S7's Mummy Boy. And I've amassed a mountain of medical debt.

A few months ago, Kiyoka from Gargamel asked if they could do a toy in my honor, with sales benefiting... me. my first thought was, "whooaa!!" and then, "no way, I'm not worthy!" But one of the things i've learned to do these past few years is accept help. And really, how could i possibly refuse such an insanely amazing offer from my favorite toy maker/designer in the world?!

If you're reading this right now, you've probably been affected by cancer. there are people on this board that have had (or, are living with) cancer. or maybe you've had people, or pets you love get cancer. it fxxking sucks. i hope there's a cure soon. cancer survivors are living longer than ever. maybe someday, it will become a completely manageable disease.

A portion of sales from this special edition crouching zag will be donated to the Cancer Support Community. The CSC helps cancer survivors and their caregivers (i.e. spouses, partners, parents, siblings, etc). The CSC offers psychological and emotional support. practical support with medical and insurance issues. it's an amazing resource and i hope there's something like it available to people everywhere.

so... that's it! maybe you collect zags, or love gargamel, or maybe you feel like spending a few hard-earned bucks for a good cause. if so, i hope you'll add this toy to your collection.

Awesome release. This is 1 of those times where I love the toy community. The fact that I do colllect zags and love Gargamel makes this sweeter but I'd buy this toy either way.

I saw the Gargamel tweet earlier this morning with pictures with you going back. You are a real trooper, and I fully support their effort to help you and raise awareness.

Pete....this will be my first purchase at DCon. You're definitely worthy my friend. For those of you who have not met Pete in person he is simply awesome.

Congratulations and I am very sorry to hear about your struggle. As someone who doesn't get to go to cons and doesn't speak Japanese Gargamel always seemed a bit unapproachable, albeit that is all on me. A story like this really puts a human side to an already cool company and I think it's awesome they are doing this. I don't even collect the crouching Zags but I will gladly buy one of these given the chance.
