Is this really called a Gommorrah?
First, I might be off and it's a reprint, not a genuine vintage. Don't bother me, but it feels and looks oldish, so that's why I thought it belongs here. Now, for what its listing showed and translated as Gommorrah by Marusan, I have some doubts, but then again.. Please correct me on the name, if you think otherwise. thanks. karoy

I'm not sure what your question is, actually, but hope this helps http://www.clubdesmonstres.com/best/htm/gomorra.html

Re: Is this really called a Gommorrah?
Yes indeed it does. I wasn't clear on the proper name of the figure. Thanks again!

Yeah, "don't bother me" doesn't exactly sound like a question, but this ought to help, too.

Re: Is this really called a Gommorrah?
Of course, all I meant was I like the figure regardless of how old it is, yet it seemed worn enough not to be a recent reissue, but not decades old, as the case might be. In either case, I should've done my home work better, but I just never remember Club Tokyo for reference. Learning tho. Slowly, but I am.. promise. Thanks again.

Show us the underside of the feet and we can tell whether it's an original or reissue.

Re: Is this really called a Gommorrah?
Had to do it in B&W as the markings were difficult to photograph:

Re: Is this really called a Gommorrah?
Looks like an original Marusan to me, based on that mark and the paint wear. A Bullmark version would have the famous bull mark, and a B-Club reissue would have the bull mark and the name "Gomora" in katakana in black ink.

Re: Is this really called a Gommorrah?
Gomora is one of my all time faves... nice score! I don't even have a re-issue of that sculpt and I love it. I read somewhere once that his name was a mix up of the words GO and MOLE since he digs in the ground...
Again, nice score, love it. Anybody have a reissue they want to sell?

Re: Is this really called a Gommorrah?
I don't have any pics, but off the top of my head I thought the kaiju's name was printed on the foot for the B-Club reissues. I could be wrong.
And I just remembered that B-Club may not have been the only outfit that made Gomora reissues, their parent Bandai did Ultra kaiju reissues in the early 90s. That would have had a Bullmark stamp on the foot and a white licensing sticker.

Re: Is this really called a Gommorrah?
The Bullmark re-issues just had the Bandai logo printed in black on one foot in kana (バンダイ) also with a paper sticker showing the name Bandai and re-issue year. The Bullmark logo is embossed into the other foot as with the original.

Yeah, but which Bulllmark reissues? The ones Bandai released under their name or the ones they did under the B-Club/Popy brand? I also checked the Beautiful Book of Monsters, there are a few Gomora variants includng a flesh Hawaii one with copious blue paint.

The early B-Club reissues don't have the black printing on the other foot - The early ones had a paper tag that hung on a string around the neck or arm.

Re: Is this really called a Gommorrah?
Yeah, in 1991 Bandai did reissues of Toho and Tsuburaya kaiju but they were different from the B-Club reissues in that they were recasts: http://clubtokyo.org/listings/itemListi ... tentID=643B-Club is a subsidiary of Bandai so that confuses things when we talk about this stuff. Were there early non- bagged B-Club reissues or just these Bandai ones?

It is (older photo): Oh, and that's a vintage Gomora in there too: viewtopic.php?f=30&t=30878&hilit=+gomora

^^^ Them glow-hards are just sweet! Especially with the lights on. The Gomora's head painting scheme with the orange, yellow combo is wow!

Were there early non- bagged B-Club reissues or just these Bandai ones? a super annoying thing about the bandai ultra reissues in the early 90's, is that several have similar paint jobs to the originals. And of coarse the stickers come off. I have a hard time in photos telling the bandai 92 gomora from the bullmark hawaii spray gomora.

The bandai reissues in the 90's had hanging tags. Some were bagged too. I thought all the bclubs were in bags with header cards.

Re: Is this really called a Gommorrah?
Yup, B-Club, Popy, and Bandai are pretty much synonymous. Well, after Bandai re-absorbed Popy in '83.
