It's funny but there is no mention in the wiki article of Pushead's toy work. But that makes sense, because there is no mention of any this toy culture on wiki.

Also no mention of his Misfits art? BAD BIO!

Mr Humphreys,I don't know how helpful this is, but I have the B-Club reissue of this and the header says it is a remake of a Bullmark toy- though I know some Bullmark figures had Marusan stamps on them... No ZBO on the reissue.

Banderu Seijin was produced successively by Marusan, Bullmark and Ark- seems to be the same mold for all 3, but I do not have them to verify. The colors are similar on the 3 versions, but with slight differences. The one in your photo looks like the Marusan version; the Bullmark is a lighter green with less metallic spray, and the Ark has black/red eyes.

As for the logo, I think it actually says "TBA." I did a little digging and the TV series that featured Banderu Seijin, Captain Ultra, has this same logo in the opening credits. Captain Ultra production is credited to Toei and the show was aired on Tokyo Broadcasting System. The company name associated with the TBA logo has the characters for Toei and Tokyo in its name, but I unfortunately cannot read the entire string. So, probably it is the logo for a now-defunct Toei affiliate/subsidiary (Google of the beginning characters turns up nothing relevant) responsible for production of Captain Ultra.

Maybe someone better versed in the company's history can explain this.

Thank you Cralya and Akum6n :P . MarkK was kind enough to correct me and point out that it is not ZBO but TBA. I finally got back home and tore into one of my Celga boxes to find that my Barasu was the B-Club version :x  But, there was a surprise. I think I might have a large Bullmark Kanegon-Blue & Gold. There is the classic running bull stamp on one foot and no other markings. He's 23 cm tall. I'm not entirely convinced that it's a vintage Bullmark, as I believe someone here recently mentioned that at one point in time, Bandai reissued a large Kanegon with the same bull stamp and a peel-off Bandai sticker. I'm not sure which version I have. Is there a definitive way to determine this?

Mr. Humphreys - That looks to me like the Bandai Kanegon reissue from circa 1991. Bandai made a few Bullmark reissues for which the original vinyl colors and paint schemes were used and to an untrained eye they look like the vintage figure (for some of them, like the Z-ton, the paint was slightly altered giving you a way to tell the difference between the vintage and the original. For Kanegon, there may also a subtle difference in the paint scheme - I just don't know the two versions well enough. But I can tell that the vinyl on this just looks too new).

Later on, B-Club got wise and started putting a black stamp on the feet of the reissued figures (and also changed the color schemes). FWIW.

Lovin' this guy (not the price) -- anybody place a name to it? and the King Wondar is indeed a fantastic looking figure.

Thank you ElvisFromHell. I suspected it was a Bandai (thank you for providing the year). As you mentioned, the toy just looks too new to be vintage. I will still enjoy playing with this very cute toy. This was my 2nd JPY auction, which I knew I went too much on faith of the auction photos (no foot shots), skimpy auction description, and paid too much for a lot of toys. Since then, I've learned to be more discriminating in checking the authenticity (with the help of some wonderful Boardies! :P ) and the condition of the toy, and mentally being willing to lose an auction if it goes over a reasonable price. Being a newbie, when you see a toy come up, I thought, "oh no! my ONLY chance", but now that I watch the JP auctions, figures come up more often then I would guess. So, all is not lost, I did learn a valuable lesson early on. There are a lot of little toys that I don't know quite what to do with... give them away? They aren't worth much, and I would feel bad to sell them. Hmmm :)

Keep them would be my advice. You may end up really missing them down the line.
That's just my advice. I can't get rid of anything.

Described as Shigorasu and Shimonsu

What gorgeous creatures! Can someone please tell me which character is which? They are really very elaborate in texture and detail. I particularly love the blue one, but the brown one has some terrific "scales". Oh, and those beautiful silver horns! :P Someone, please put me out of my misery! Ended at 42500 for the pair which I guess is probably a good deal for the pair? Looks to be in great condition too. I really would have liked to put in a bid, but I'm suppose to be waiting until mid-March before I can adopt any more new toys

Shigorasu is the biped and Shimonsu is the quadruped. Both from episode 13 of Return of Ultraman. They are usually called Seagorus and Seamons when written in English, as they come from the ocean.

Thank you for identifying them for me, and also for giving the alternate names. They really are beautiful. Ocean animals?!? Hum! I wouldn't have thought that! I just checked Netflix, and they only have Ultraman series 1&2. Do you have any suggestions for locating Return of Ultraman? Looks like Series 1 & 2 are inexpensive dvd sets to purchase. I couldn't find a source for Return of Ultraman - English version or subtitled and playable on standard US player.
