Re: and now for something completely different
Well, it is neither monster nor Japanese (I think), but this vinyl dude is pretty cool. I don't know anything about him, no markings that I can see, except a large copyright 'C' and the date of 1967 (both in reverse) molded into the underside. I've been saying for a while we need a [lovable] ugly toys thread.

He is a sort of nodder - the upper body moves side-to-side - and has that great crude style of the late '60s you see in vinyl figures. Reminds me of the trolls and other creepy dudes of the era, I have always seemed to have a soft spot for (but I am sure have been responsible for scaring a few kids). The thick vinyl has got that nice roughness and texture, but is still soft for its age. When I first got this guy he was all grey under a thick layer of dirt, and I almost feel I should have left him that way. Almost. Wherever he came from, he was decorating the back of someone's shelf for decades I bet.
I don't know anything about him, Andy Capp post comic strip-fame maybe?

His clothing is an odd style, difficult to date, could be meant of a certain era, or could just be that 'hobo' look. If anyone's got any ideas on origin or ID, I've love to hear it.
