My brain keeps wondering if it was propaganda at all, and if so how blatant? I know the protagonists are some animal who got rejected from the zoo, his croc friend and an evil old lady...  My imagination is running wild! Anyone actually watched an episode?

Re: "cute " vinyls It was very popular in its day even in some of western europe, I studied it as a film student, there are subtle soviet prods here and there, but I think the intention was to make a show that focused on good moral stories. It would have been difficult to realize the show without running it through the machine at that time in Russia.
It is very popular in Japan and I think some films were redubbed for the Japanese market.
Thats a great Gena BTW - I have seen one on ebay with a fabric coat
