Tiger Mask
I'm starting a Tiger Mask thread since these are my newfound obsession lately.
Vinyl + Wrestling =
i am slowly learning about the line and the series. i was a fan of the actual wrestler long before i knew he was based on a comic/cartoon hero.

So what can you tell us about the anime and real guy? I dig the toys but really don't know anything about the source.

The manga ran in weekly jump for a couple years starting in '68 or '69
they made a cartoon from that starting in '69 or '70 that also ran a couple years
i've been unable to find much about the stories except that tiger mask was a heel wrestler in the united states until a kid there said he wanted to train to be an evil wrestler which made tiger mask change his ways. he went back to japan to be a reformed hero, and there was an organization made called tiger cave or something that would pay different villain wrestlers to constantly attack tigermask and his allies
even though the series didnt last long, it was hugely popular (spawning these toys that are now 30 years old and more) and in the early 80s, NJPW put a tiger mask on a wrestler and started that gimmick in real life
i never saw much of the original tiger mask wrestler... i became acquainted with the character through the second tiger mask mitsuharu misawa. (gotta love bootleg japanese wrestling tapes.
misawa was (still is) an excellent performer. he got rid of the mask sometime in the 90s i think, and i havent kept up much with tiger masks III and IV. tiger mask IV still wrestles under that gimmick today

Kinda reminds me of King from Tekken.

Here is a great TigerMask site I've posted in the past. Lots of info and a great resource with photos of the various vintage TigerMask vinyls. Drool away.

yeah , you have to love tiger mask and those old bootleg tapes and dvds . the quality of the ones i have seen may not be good but the wrestling is first rate . tiger mask wrestling the dynamite kid just doesnt get any better . one figure i have tried to get a couple of times is skull star . not super expensive but i always lose the auction .

yea i missed my first skull star too
i am bidding on one now, but it is kind of beat up unfortunately.
ah well when you are dealing with 35 year old toys, there are bound to be some imperfections.
i'll just say it gives it character

Thass what I'm talkin' bout!
Yummy pic ... What's the story with the guy on the left wearing the turban and tablecloth (with the table apparently still under it)?
Looks like someone hiding under a table, doing some 'mysterious disembodied head' trick, decided to get up and walk off the job ...

VV, are those toys behind glass, I can't tell.
I ask as most vintage collections that I have seen, aren't displayed behind glass.
Not judging, just observing.

the tigerman with the lightning bolt on his chest is tiger 7 . he comes with removable gloves and from what i have seen of brian flynns collection it comes in two color variations . yellow head and orange . one of my all time favorite hero vinyls . the other is a lion maru talker a holy grail that i managed to get a few years back . as you might be able to tell i like lions and tigers . the hasame jaguar in the pic just might be my favorite vinyl of all .
